Buying Clones?

Is there a difference when your buying clones, if they are in rockwool or in soil, assuming you plan to grow in a hydro setup. Okay, I am not sure how clear that was, so let me rephrase. I have a hydro setup, and I need some clones. Do I need to be specific that I will be growing in a hydro setup rather than soil, will that make a big difference?

I assume it depends on if the clone is in dirt or just rockwool material, but I wanted to check to be sure.

Thanks.

in rockwool would be prefered but you can genly rinse the soil from the by dunking root ball in ph ed RO water slowly and gently moving around till all clean then place in net pots with hydroton many ways to do the same thing but it does work just remember slow and gentle
