I need some instruction on how to protect my computer folders from being deleted by "accident" again. How do I password protect folders(if I can)to prevent someone from opening or deleting them.

It is not easy to protect from being deleted. It is better to be sure you have a good backup. What are the files you are trying to protect?

 

For documents and spreadsheets I have been using google apps. That way only I have access to them and unless I do something stupid they should always be available.

 

There are services that will synchronize your files to a server on the Internet. Some free or very inexpensive but for me a good USB drive or DVD is what I use for backups of mp3 files and videos.
