Dear Editor,

 

 I feel compelled to respond to the ‘Kudos to the Holly Village Council’ Hot line message on page 8A, in the Sunday, Feb. 13 edition of the Times.

 

 Many village citizens are irate, concerned and upset about the news that a medical marijuana business will be opening in Holly. For everyone’s information, the state of Michigan has approved the sale of medical marijuana under strict guidelines. No municipality can override state law in this matter without incurring legal problems with Lansing, to say nothing of the potential lawsuits looming on the horizon.

 

 Please be assured that the Holly Village Council has tabled action, and returned this matter to our planning commission. We will proceed with utmost care and diligence to remain within the limitations of the laws and ordinances. All concerned citizens are invited to the village council meeting on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. to air your concerns.
