Compassion Clubs And Certification Centers

Recommended Posts

In response to the Holland Sentinel’s article, Police raid medical marijuana facility, I wanted to clarify a couple of points regarding Green Trees of Detroit certification center and West Michigan Medical Service and Supplies, a compassion club for medical marijuana patients and caregivers.

First, Green Trees of Detroit certification center is fully supportive of West Michigan Medical’s mission as a compassion club in providing quality, meaningful, needed services to medical marijuana patients and caregivers. Compassion clubs serve as community-based resources for patients and caregivers.

Green Trees of Detroit certification center, on the other hand, is a statewide informational resource for patients, caregivers and compassion clubs. We also provide access to physicians for individuals seeking medical marihuana screening and certification in areas where such facilities may not exist. Green Trees of Detroit certification center does not dispense medical marihuana to patients, per Michigan law.

As such, the Sentinel’s description of West Michigan Medical as “a satellite office of Green Trees of Detroit” is misleading. While we are, again, entirely supportive of the organization, their compassion club, as are others, is operated independently of Green Trees of Detroit certification center and its affiliation.
