Benzie commissioner arrested for drugs

BEULAH — Deputies arrested a Benzie County commissioner after they said they found drugs in her vehicle.

Mary Pitcher, 51, of Beulah, is accused of possessing marijuana, allowing a suspended person to operate her motor vehicle and having an open intoxicant in her vehicle.

"I had no idea that there was marijuana in my car," Pitcher said Monday.

Benzie County sheriff's deputies arrested Pitcher Saturday night at the intersection of Shorewood Drive and Lobb Road after they stopped her vehicle for erratic driving. She was a passenger in the vehicle, police said.
