There are many questions surrounding the

Michigan Medical Marihuana Act.

Attorney Matthew Abel's talk will hopefully give you a better

understanding of your rights and responsibilities under the MMA.

He will explain the law in clear and simple terms and will give

you an update on current Michigan medical marijuana cases.

Mr. Abel will discuss some options for local zoning ordinances

and the different approaches localities are taking to regulate or

prohibit medical marijuana. He will also be able to answer some

of your questions.

 

Matthew R. Abel has been a criminal defense lawyer in Michigan

for 24 years. He established Cannabis Counsel, P.L.C.,

with a practice entirely devoted to cannabis cases and clients,

providing criminal defense of marijuana cases throughout Michigan.

 

In addition to the criminal defense practice, since passage

of the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act in 2008, the practice has

grown to include business clients and issues, as well as employment,

drug testing, probation, and domestic issues surrounding

cannabis consumption.

 

Mr. Abel is a lifetime member of the NORML Legal Committee and

the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and a member

of Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan, the National Lawyers Guild,

Americans for Safe Access, and the legal committee of the ACLU of Michigan.

 

He has taught Michigan Medical Marihuana Law for Oaksterdam University

in Michigan and the Medical Cannabis College and currently is a member of

the faculty at Med Grow Cannabis College. Mr. Abel has stood for

public office seven times in Michigan ...
