There are similar stories in poor areas of our own country like in Kentucky where tobacco is no longer the #1 cash crop, it is cannabis, and it is not even legal there, but somehow these people get by, by growing it, selling it, just like with moonshine before. A way for people to have a decent life, if only someone didn't decide that it should be illegal.
