Holland, MI —Greener pastures are in sight for medical marijuana growers wanting expert advice on how to raise healthy plants. Inquiries on how to cultivate the plant have increased slightly in the past few years, Michigan State University Extension experts say.

MSU-E, which is mainly involved in more traditional agricultural endeavors, is a resource for some medical marijuana suppliers who want accurate information on how to grow the plants effectively.

Having received about seven calls since medical marijuana became legal in Michigan, MSU-E senior educator Thomas Dudek said he tries to relay basic information on plant physiology to first-time growers.

“People need to have a fairly good knowledge of fertilizer, irrigation and growing media,” said Dudek, a horticulture and marketing expert based in Ottawa County.

He takes existing information about growing other indoor plants and adapts it to the situation when answering such calls.

“Obviously, we’re a land grant university that creates knowledge for people in businesses. If we have a business for growing plants, then you tend to look at MSU as a resource for that type of information,” he said.

Rick Jones will certainly want to put a stop to this also. Just like the feds removed information on their sites about cannabis reducing the size of tumors, I'm sure some politician in control will stop the MSU-E from helping us grow.

otherwise, this is a great and unbelievable resource for growers.

Why pay $17 bucks each time you want your soil tested when you can test your own by buying a soil ph meter as well as a ph pen. good ones are close to a 100 bucks plus BUT can be used over and over for however long you need it.. not only for medical grows but anything your growing (although you may want 2 seperate ones so your not cross contaminating houseplant or various other soil with grow soil lord only knows what can be transfered) BUT its something ive learned during my experience in all of this as well as with experienced gardeners in my family and friends.. and if your soils are too sour or to alkaline there are various PH up / ph down solutions and products for your water to even it out as well as lime etc that can be used. So again rather then pay 17 bucks at a local grocer etc.. every time you want your soil tested just buy yourself the right equipment. As with all "artists" its about the equipment you hold to do your work right! Hope this helps with some insight :)

As for the MSU-E helping.. thats very awesome.. but i do see the govt getting wind of it and janking it away like everything else..really its only a matter of time. BUT until then good to hear there are options out there for new growers etc.. Best wishes and much love.......Peace and love to all!!! :)
