Where I see this as a simple easy to do DWC system, it really suprised me to hear him say and show ph of 5.1 is good... and that PH can be anywhere between 5 and 6.

 

Also, cycling that water pump on and off like that, I wouldn't expect it to last very long. I'd just put drippers on the ends, use Grodan Blocks and constant slow drip (about 1 per second or 1 per 2 seconds).

Those stones get covered by the roots by week 3 if your doing things right. I use these to get better results.

 

Also I let my ph go from 5-6 and don't have issues.
