If you thought prices may come down as more and more state make mm legal. Today put a nail in the coffin of that idea. The teamsters announced today the first ever mm union workers in Cali. First thing teamsters did was demand a raise and got it. When are the people going to stop and think that the unions are not really worried about them not anymore they are about your union dues. When they force companies to give raises it raises the cost if everything. Here in Michigan they drove two auto companies into bankruptcy. Sorry rant ended!

and you think this will do what? i see a big dif with cars....i cant make one..... i can grow pot. so supply and demand rules. and yes its a fact. prices in cali have already went down, prices in co are freakin super low. So the greedy folks at uaw screwed over the greedy folks at gm....a pot union sounds great. you know whos vote counts in america, not u or me. we get a pot union here it will be legal the next year.

The price is going up out there regardless of some workers joining the teamsters, if I am not mistaken Prop 19 has a $50 a zip tax as well...

Name one time that a union taking concessions has ever lowered the cost of a product? Sure unionizing may be an excuse to raise the price but for all the complaining by the auto manufacturers only about 10% of the cost of an automobile is for union labor. Without a union what leverage do you have with your employer? You are going to take what they give you because you have no leverage. They will get along just fine without you if you don't like it.

 

I get the feeling that people will not be happy until every job is paying slave labor wages so the wealthy ruling class can get it all. Never in history has there been a redistribution of wealth from the middle and lower classes to the wealthy class like has happened in the last 10 years.

 

When we all do better we all do better. That is not socialism it is the way it works.

Listen I am sorry I was kinda cheesed that the UAW was over stepping their bounds again. I am anti union I am a low wage 35 hour a week worker and stay at home dad. But I see so many issues caused by unions.

 

I don't want to see people earning crap but I also don't want to pay extra for everything because an unskilled laborers are being paid inflated wages because some jackboot thug forced the company to pay it. My grandfather was a UAW rep in his later years I saw what kind of crap goes on.

 

Now with that said please don't hate me for my opinion. I would hate to be asked to leave the board I have learned so much and received a ton of help in the extremely short time I have been here. From now on I will keep my thoughts on such stuff to myself.

No harm done, and it is a good thing to get your opinion out there. Even when it is not agreed with by some, it allows them to express opposing points of view that may or may not help in cementing your own position. If nothing else you will know the view points of dissenting folks.

 

Most debate and discussion is welcome, and can even get heated on particular topics. That being said, as long as you remember the general rule of attack the idea not the poster, you will get along here just fine.

No need to be sorry for your opinion. Ware are a pretty respectful and understand bunch most of the time. Discussion and debate are encouraged. Heck I'm an atheist and Rev I assume is a Rev but we get along just fine even when we don't always agree.

As you suggest though a little common courtesy goes a long way, even with folks you disagree with on very personal issues. That courtesy can even become respect, for a differing opinion.

Very well said. One thing about us science types is all things are provisional on evidence. I will change my mind about anything if presented with demonstrative evidence.
