The Usefulness Of Generators

Hello again

 

I have a quick question about generator electricity. I was considering buying a propane generator to offset the strain the room puts on my house. It would also be useful in times of power outages that WILL happen in Michigan. My question is this, How much propane will it take to power a growroom? Is it comparable to the cost of the E bill?

A goal I have is to install a natural gas generator in my basement. Not to offset the electricity, but for outages.

20 lbs of propane lasts 8-10 hrs with 4-7kWh generator. 10 hrs for 4 kwh and 8 for 7kwh at 50% load is what i'm finding on the net. Could run a 500 gal tank empty in a week or so = Spendy

great idea.... but only for outages. If it was even close to being cheaper consumers would be out and everyone would have a basement full of generators.

Generators are for backup only. Unless you have frequent outages, a gas generator is the cheapest to set up and run for emergencies. And yes, I have one.
