East Lansing's Medical Marijuana Moratorium Ends

City Council voted 4-1 to approve Ordinance 1245-C, which allows for medical marijuana dispensaries in the city's B-4 zoning district.The new ordinance places restrictions on how close two dispensaries can be to one another and limits the numbers of caregivers in a dispensary to a maximum of 5.

 

It also requires dispensaries looking to open up in East Lansing to obtain a Special Use permit. That means that both East Lasing's Planning Commission and City Council would need to approve any permit in order for a dispensary to move into town.

 

East Lansing first implemented a medical marijuana moratorium back in August and extended it twice before acting Tuesday night.
