Nevermind that our own Reps are only trying to profit from the MMMA, does anyone know where to find the analysis that shows the program's revenues and expenses?

Sec. 12-306. If the required fees are shown to be insufficient to offset all expenses

of implementing and administering the medical marihuana program, the department shall review

and revise the application and renewal fees accordingly to ensure that all expenses of

implementing and administering the medical marihuana program are offset as is permitted under

section 5 of the Michigan medical marihuana act, 2008 IL 1, MCL 333.26425.

According to Katie Duggan, the Policy Analyst of the House Democratic Policy Staff, “The Medical Marihuana Program is rolled into the Health Professions (now Bureau of Health Professions line item). Hence, the Legislature has not specifically appropriated funds for the Medical marihuana (sic) program. The Medical Marihuana program may expend the revenue generated by Medical Marihuana fees to support the necessary costs of administering the program.” As of June, 2011, Rae Ramsdell, the Director for the Bureau of Health Professions at LARA, confirmed that despite costing $1.5 million, the program indeed could easily administer itself as it had actually brought in revenue of over $8 million.

Furthermore, State Representative Fred Durhal Jr. (D-District 6) who serves on the Appropriations Committee, says that between June and July, 2010, the committee had appropriated approximately $100,000 to the MMMP to purchase the equipment needed to process the medical marijuana ID cards. Celeste Clarkson, Manager of the MMMP, confirmed the amount. According to Clarkson, the money bought two machines plus supplies.

If we assume all the cards are $100 ones, then would that mean that they cost $18.75 to process?
