Fbi Task Force Busts Lenawee County Marijuana Operation

ADRIAN

An FBI-led task force reportedly shut down a significant marijuana growing operation that used rented homes in Lenawee County. Three men arrested in the case were arraigned Wednesday, May 7, in Lenawee County District Court.

“This is one of the bigger operations we have seen,” said Lenawee County Prosecutor Burke Castleberry. Rented houses in the city of Adrian and in Rome Township were being used to grow marijuana crops this winter, he said. Spikes in electricity use at the houses was one of the factors that drew investigators’ attention, he said.

Castleberry said his office has been working for months with the FBI task force made up of officers from a number of local police agencies. Multiple search warrants were executed earlier this year during an extensive investigation, he said.

It has not been unusual for police to discover suspects from other states running marijuana growing operations in Lenawee County and elsewhere in Michigan since voters approved a medical marijuana law in 2008, he said. Castleberry said he is not certain where the marijuana being grown in this operation was to be taken after it was harvested and processed.

Complaints filed in court Wednesday stated the three suspects were manufacturing more than 45 kilograms or more than 200 marijuana plants. The maximum penalty for growing or delivering that amount of marijuana is 15 years in prison.

Two of the suspects, Michael Che Walters, 39, and Timothy Daniel Spitler, 43, have Bowling Green, Ohio, addresses. The third suspect is Thayer Wilson Devore, 32, of Cement City. All three are charged with manufacturing marijuana, conspiracy and possession of marijuana with intent to deliver. They remain free on personal recognizance pending preliminary hearings on May 19.

Haha, I thought the same thing!

It was surely an informant/snitch that got them caught... This isn't considered MMJ neither, in my book.

Also, PR bonds??? Wild, Jeffery Dolmer had the FBI after him, and he never got a PR bond...
