Marijuana References On Tv

Figured we should get the forum started.

 

I have been noticing a lot of shows referencing or even showing marijuana usage lately. I think it really speaks volumes about the growing acceptance that the censors allow it considering the MPAA has recently changed their rules giving Meryl Streep's and Alec Baldwin's new film, It's Complicated, an R rating for depicting pot use "with no bad consequences."

 

I'm not really talking about cable so much as network TV. The CBS comedy "Accidentally on Purpose" frequently references marijuana including showing characters who are under the influence. A few years ago Arrested Development did an episode with a story line medical marijuana, and showed G.O.B smoking it, as well as many other episodes with Uncle Oscar smoking. There are plenty more shows as well, it's becoming a frequent light-hearted topic.

 

What shows have you seen that are pro-marijuana? And do you see it as a result of growing acceptance?

It seems like I notice it all the time, especially recently, but right now i cant think of any! Need more coffee...oh wait...

Bill Maher. He is smoking a bowl with a hindu leader in his movie "Religulous"...talks about it all the time in his news show...

A few months ago, Lieutenant Anita Van Buren was using on Law & Order. I didn’t see the full episode. I asked about it here, but was slammed. Anyway, she has stage 2 cervical cancer. She was gifted the material from her son. Her superior approached her and told her to take a shower because she reeked of the smoke. He stated that he had used when he was going through therapy. Season 20 - episode 3.

TNA wrestling's new champ, Battle Creek's own Rob Van Dam, during his first "championship" speech, made several references to Mother Nature's Finest, and also touched on how he was basically black listed from some of the professional wrestling organizations because of his love for the weed...

On Showtime its getting fairly regular. Last week I watched a 'Nurse Jackie' where she hooks up a patient who needs an appetite stimulant because of his ? .../chemo ?

 

Anyways it was particularly interesting as they talked pros, cons. Then in the end of the episode 'Jackie' escorts the patient outside commandeers an ambulance, finds the guys stash, produces an apple, bites off one end, inserts a glass tube and "wallla" instant 'Apple pipe' fires it up and they enjoy the drivers stash and a little banter.
