To all concerned: We all from the Bay City club appreciate all your good wishes. We also appreciate your concern for our civil rights, and that they were not abused. This a good thing.Thats what its all about,right??COMPASSION- EMPATHY- CARING-UNDERSTANDING.Thats what our club strives for, also we try and stay politicaly focused on all mmj issues and do what we can to further our cause or help a brother or sister in need.We are a private club due to the size of our building and what we had invisioned,as a social club of friends, working together to help each other achive there goals within the mmj commuinity. To be compassionate in all our business dealing is our goal.to help everyone, be treated fairly with dignity and respect. And to form some life long friendships with some utterly fantastic people. Please lets try not to be so negative towards one and other.WE ARE ON THE SAME SIDE,to infight, name call gossip,or just plain be mean or inhumane to one and other. To me seems completely insane. We are of the same essence, we can blend so well together. Our differences should be our strenghth,we as a group are so diverse, its dam hard to see which way we all are coming from. This makes us a force to contend with thats hard to aim at So brothers and sisters, and I mean that.We are all of one family, and there's nothing stronger than family.Lets spread some love and positive feelings between the members, leave the negative crap for facebook lol alrighty then may all that come your way today,be just what you needed Steveyray President Bay City Compassion Club&Co-OP

Great job Steve, I just got my internet back today(been down for several days), or I would have posted earlier.

I felt LEO's main concern was the sharing issue. I feel (along with others) that the transfer issue should be decided by 1 patient or caregiver, not 35. The issue will most likely come up again somewhere in the State.

I recommend staying within the rule's and following the law, and give yourself some time after medicating before driving or making major decisions.

If LEO inhaled inside the club they had trace Cannabis metabolites in their system, and they are in violation of Michigan's 0 tolerance State law!

thank you for all the answers steve. sounds like you guys were on top of things! :)

maybe you all can use this meeting with the LEO as a positive. get some of them to join LEAP :) or maybe help some of them get their cards so they can enjoy also! hahaha that way they won't have to pull over highschool kids and steel their weed. lol just kidding. they will do that anyway. its like a favorite past time of LEO's to F with highschool kids it seems. :o glad those days are past

Can a club be started, on private property, owned by the club or club member(s), and have a private room for Patients only, for the purpose of medication ? I assume so.

Seems like this was a rental..... not privately owned.

Seems like letting LEO in, without a warrant...... bad idea.

Selling, well, refer to the last two sentences.

Would seem that if people would just trade e-mails and cell #'s at the meetings that are on public, or rented space, and then visit each other on private property, behind closed/locked doors, this would not have happened.

The "conversation" between caregivers and patients, caregivers and caregivers, patients and patients, behind closed doors, seems like a better idea then setting up a weed flea market, on public or rented property.

I understand the wanting to help Patients, but selling at a gram price that comes out to a good $600 oz. is not helping the Patient. Crazy.

I'll stick to the meetings where they encourage networking.... after the meeting. No flea markets for me.

Or meetings that are held on private property. I think a lot of clubs need to look into buying a building. Even a foreclosed pole building or mobile home. Card holders only. Patients room in the back.

yes, a club can be started, private or rental property does not matter. who owns the property doesn't matter (doesn't have to be a mm patient/cg).

a private patient only room is necessary for these clubs to exist. if the room was accessible to the public, it would not be a private club. so there needs to be an entry room that checks cards and makes sure members are legal, paying members.

according to the mm law, we can medicate on private property, a room that is only accessible to members of a private club (regardless of who owns the property, rental, etc..) falls within this realm.

"Amendment 1

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

- United States Constitution

landlord did, not club. they didn't have a choice in the matter here.

p2p 100% legal. these clubs are compassion centers. those who cannot grow should be able to have access to medicine.

Would seem that if people would just trade e-mails and cell #'s at the meetings that are on public, or rented space, and then visit each other on private property, behind closed/locked doors, this would not have happened.

the clubs that are doing transfers/smoking are on private space (rented or not) and are allowed to do this. most people don't want to give out their emails or cells or meet at their houses, or in a random parking lot like drug dealers. having these clubs gives a private location for people to meet. keeps the streets clean. offers layers of protection & comfort.

The "conversation" between caregivers and patients, caregivers and caregivers, patients and patients, behind closed doors, seems like a better idea then setting up a weed flea market, on public or rented property.

the beginning and end of this sentence contradict each other. these "flea markets" are private "behind closed doors" situations like you are suggesting.

I understand the wanting to help Patients, but selling at a gram price that comes out to a good $600 oz. is not helping the Patient. Crazy.

its nice to be able to get grams at $15-25 and sample different strains to see what helps your condition. if you want an oz, you don't have to buy 28 different 1 gram bag @ $15-25.. you can work that out...

I'll stick to the meetings where they encourage networking.... after the meeting. No flea markets for me.

these meetings do encourage networking. what do you call it when random people with similar passions, interests, ideas, actions, talents, etc.. get together? networking.

Or meetings that are held on private property. I think a lot of clubs need to look into buying a building. Even a foreclosed pole building or mobile home. Card holders only. Patients room in the back.

real estate is expensive. a club that collects $20 annually from each member with 20-700 members and has existed a year or less (for most) cannot have the revenue to buy a building.

what interests me the most about the objections so well parried here is that they are all seeking to create barriers to access. Do you know who wants barriers to access? Prohibitionists :-{

Wow Wayno why so hostile towards other like minded individuals We at the bcccc did all we could to protect are members rights We tryed to deny entrance owner was with them gave permission he made a mistake he is young and was rattled Our contract for rental was with his dad We spoke with him he said it would not have happened had he been there will not happen again I think it is fantastic these people extented to us there apology for what happened Also they give us the hall at 50% off and have given us our own key to hall Butch the owner of the bay cafe and hall could not be more compassionate giving and caring and thats what our club is about This guy is stand up his insurance has gone up he takes bunny muffin from the uninformed now he is being hassled by leo But instead of throwing us out we have a lifetime lease He could take the easy road with no problems and headaches But he chooses to stand by us and the mma commmunity so wayne hope that clears things up alittle for u got any more venom 2 spill and indeed u do seem 2 revel in others woes that just aint kool dude so chill bro we are all on the same side

My apologies for coming off so terse but privacy of medical records is something most of us should be extremely concerned about. Encounters with LEO are inevitable and some patients will end up having their names and info entered into the LEIN system. I just don't want to see places where people come to gather , socialize, and medicate together to become a vehicle for creating this databse for LEO to access. When you can convince me they will uphold and dfend our new law and rights such considerations may be open to discussion to avoid problems for all. Personally I see with time the courts ruling that the mere presence of marijuana will not provide LEO probable cause. After all if I walk out of a liquor store with a case of Vodka LEO doesn't jump my donkey to determine if the sale was legal or what my intent for purchasing is. Why? Because if I'm obviously over 21 it's legal for me to possess. My apologies to anyone I've personally offended. Just my old paranoid habits.

Peace

I believe if operated properly with discretion and security the Compassion Clubs will be leading our state to wider acceptance and understanding. I wish all the best, but proceed slowly with patience and understanding for those that fear out of ignorance. We can win many of them over.

Just letting everyone know I own A 50x100 ft Fully Insulated and modernized facility in Kawkawlin. Right now it is being used for storage, but within a year I plan to get it all cleaned out this year with a huge sale. I am also waiting on my patient card, I have been a care giver for about a year now, My ultimate plan in the future, If the state will allow I would love to have like they have in California. Is a cafe style shop because the building is commercial and a store front right on M-13 and is a slowly dying party store (mostly porno) Some of may already know about this place and for those who do and support our small family business Thank You!! But times are hard these days and I think in due time we will have to close the doors for good. But 35 yrs in business Is hard to let go But I think Bigger and better things are to come in the near future. So if yous are having trouble with your facility's in town, and you don't think its too far of a travel you are gonna be more then welcome to use my facility's for club use. And I guarantee LEO wont be nowhere near the property without a warrant, Unless of course we burn it down but ashtrays will be provided....

Wayne I believe thats what just happened in bay city. The leos learned alot we learned alot, they admited they were not very familiar with the new mmj laws. The lt. leo was on the phone with the local prosecutor for most of the visit, and while I voiced my objections. The owner said they would not be allowed in by them again. He is a great and stand up cat His insurance is going up because we are medicating He said do not worry about it,just keep on keeping on.His wife died of cancer, and he used to buy street mj to help her.I said they aint running us out of town business as usual,All should agree, there will be tense times during times of change, some always cling to the old familuar ways.I think we will move foward in bay city the leos came, they made a few mistakes,we did also.we are learning. But in all they were accepting of what we were doing and said they were not going to harass any members coming or going So far they have kept there word we will be watching. We hope there will be no more encounters like this last one.we were the 1st. to break ground well its broken lol So as I always say PEACE AND LOVE BROTHERS AND SISTERS THIS IS ONE BIG FAMILY LETS START ACTING MORE LIKE ONE THERE IS NOTHING STRONGER THAN THE LOVE OF A FAMILY STEVEYRAY BCCC PRES,
