My Gripes

Hi,

I am looking to be a caregiver and have had this happen too many times:

I get a prospective patient, and they they tell me that "the other guy" said it would be free.

also, time and time again I see people who want to be caregivers on this forum asking what a fair price would be and then they get chastised by other members for trying to make a few bucks.

At one time I was in a head shop in Waterford and I was talking to the storeowner about being a caregiver, and he says, "well it should be free because they are sick, they deserve it, besides they never use all of it and then you get to do what you want with the rest".

Well, pardon me. I do believe in Universal heath care. I am about as much of a Socialist as you can be, however im not spending money on soil, nutrients, genetic stock, 40 dollars a month per light on electric, the time it takes to dry and manicure and cure, plus the cost of air sanitizers, fans, etc, plus my expertise, just because you happen to be sick and deserve it.

And to the store owner in Waterford, no you can't "do whatever you want with the rest".. I don't know if he meant smoking or selling or what.

I have been to caregiver meetings, and generally found that if you are not in the caregiver "click" you are not welcome, and if you aren't sick, then leave.

And to the patients who are getting it for free, unless your caregiver is inherently weatlhy or a true philanthropist, he IS profiting on your illness, because it IS somewhat expensive to grow marijuana, so he is selling what you don't use illegally , or smoking the rest, either way: illegal.

Free caregivers: I really don't mind that you smoke the remaining products, or even sell it on the side, but don't have some holier than thou attitude and act like people that want to make a few bucks are somehow bad people.

I see a similar attitude at caregiver meetings that I do at a gunshop: I sport shoot and occassionally hunt, but I am no gun nut. I find that when I walk into a gun shop, unless your an expert, and certainly not a long hair hippie like I am, they treat you like bunny muffin, cuz your not in the "NRA gun nut click", just like im not in the "caregiver click"

so, I got meds, 100/OZ, Kush, Chronic. and yes you will have to wait a couple months for the crop to roll in, I can get you decent stuff but at the price I pay for it on the street until then. 15 years growing experience

Im also a nurse in the state of Michigan if that matters.

Harsh criticism and your answer lies in your heart and mind. Ask compensation for your efforts as your concience dictates. Caregiving should be viewed as an art in compassionately helping those in need. Not that there's anything wrong with capitalism and profits where you can find them. Greedy people can be caregiver's too. Everybody's gotta pay their bills and eat.

Well if you can't pay your bills you wont be a caregiver long...

And if you can't pay for the space then you cant grow them

Its expensive to pay the electric/soil/nutrients/and buy the equiptment

ANd deliver on command...I dont think people need it for free!!!

That's not the way they get pharmacuticals...they pay their deductable...or buy 'em

Dont how much that is...and not all pharms are covered

Yeah...free is great...but how reliable is free...well decided to give it to someone else who deserves it more...sorry

Now what???

Price debates suck bigtime and wont be tolerated here

That said...Free cant be expected...resonable is good...access is a major problem and demand is up ...supply is always down

So.....free?

Are we saying if its not free...then the caregiver is greedy ???

No, I think resonable is good and dryed and cure is very important..and free may not be done right...super cheap may not be done right

Not hard to satisfy with dispensery charging what they do!

Just get it done right...charge a reasonable amount

I see it as fine either way. If you have a patient that can afford to just pay you a flat price for the meds outright or if you give the patient some of the meds for free and recouping the costs by offing the overages on behalf of the patient thus helping them out adding some compassion ( nothing wrong with some compassion in a situation that works out for both )

Yeah some caregivers can have some paying patients and verified hardship cases they help for free...some very sick with serious diseases...nothing wrong with helping them....simpson oil ect.

Great to do if the need is for real and and you can swing it

I dont think anyone should expect it...If you can pay a reasonable cost

I really think you need to protect yourself as a caregiver though...you need to get a lawyer on retainer...because in the event of a raid they may freeze your accounts, take your money and property...ect.

But it would be great to be in a position to help thoughs with true need that could not get the help otherwise...

i had a CG recently offer to grow my plants(outdoor grow), he wants to keep the top 10 inches off each plant then sell me the rest of my plants at harvest for 200/oz........ working out to be 600-800 dollars per plant, at 12 plants, thats $7200 just at the low end. sure doesnt seem right to me, for that money i can do it myself, and afford the stealth i need to keep it from my kids, which is why i wanted a cg in the first place.

sorry, im not rippin on CG's at all, please dont take it that way, im just tired of ppl assuming that patients have $$ to give away. i spend more now than i did before i was legal, i dont mind paying a little more, and still have the option to, at any time,go back to my street pals, but to be someones gravy train is unacceptable.
