Have You Renewed Your Card? A Few Questions...

Recommended Posts

Looking at the renewal process am I reading it right that I need to go back to my doctor to have something filled out, resubmit my caregiver's photo ID and $100?

The following must be submitted with each renewal application:

 RENEWAL Application Form for Registry Identification Card.

 New Physician Certification (required).

 New Caregiver Attestation and copy of caregiver’s current photo ID.

o Required if patient is designating a new caregiver or continuing with their

current caregiver.

 Copy of patient’s current photo ID.

 $100.00 application fee or $25.00 application fee if patient submits the

appropriate supporting documents.

I assume the Dr. is going to charge me the same rate he did the first time ($200/250)? This seems awfully redundant and no different than applying for a card the first time, no wonder it takes 4 months to get anything done. Just wanted to check in here and see what experience you have had with it. Thanks!

THCF and also Dr. Kenewell are charging $150 for renewals. Most all doctors charge less for the renewals than they do for new patients. Make sure you send it certified mail for your own protection. Renewals are taking too much time and you will be expired before you get your new card.

From what I've read and heard, most certification places give a reduced rate on renewals. I think standard is around $100-$150. My place does them for $100.

I'm not saying this applies to you, but if you are on Social Security Disability, you only have to send the state $25 with proof of SS benefits.

Some clinics will also cut you a break if you prove you're collecting SS Disability.

It is awfully redundant. Why insurance does not cover this is beyond me.

First we pay the doctor, then we pay the state. We are being taxed to be allowed or medicine of choice. If a guy can't get it up, he can go get a doctors appointment and get a script for Viagra and have the office visit and the medicine covered by insurance. Someone in chronic pain however must jump through hoops and be taxed to take a natural medicine. Go figure.

It is not ideal, but it is far cheaper than a lawyer and the legal process if one does not have a card.

If your on medicair they dont cover e.d meds or head meds! (no coverage for big head or lil head lol)

but if you go to a regular dr. that is mm friendly you only have your office co-pay, and my dr. even waves that!

i went to the MMMCC in southfield, they were great, no hassle quick and $100 even

i am in the same boat. i sent my paperwork in on 11-1 and i expired on 12-1

30 days isnt enough......

i will send mine in at 60 days next year.

IMO $200 per year isnt all that much for me to be able to grow my own meds. just another in a long donkey list of fixed expenses....

passion = perfection

good luck!
