I'm wondering if anyone here has ever been to the farmers market at the Canna Bristro coffee shop in Traverse City. Husband and I took a trip north and stopped by Friday evening. What a great atmosphere! I used a vaporizer for the first time (with the bag) and LOVED it! Came home and made a purchase online right away for one. A++++ in my book .. farmers market on Mondays and Thursdays.. anyone ever been??

Someone had posted here at one time about this place, I think they said that had something to do with the market there. The post may still be here because it seems that it was a while back. Maybe a search would bring it up.

The business is right downtown Traverse City.. I think it may be Front St. Open to registered card(or paper) holders after 3:00 pm.

Local bistro turns "Amsterdam-style" in the afternoon

TRAVERSE CITY, MI -- Compassion clubs and collectives that offer medical marijuana are popping up every day, but a new business in Traverse City, called Canna Bistro, claims to be the first of its kind in the state and in the Midwest.

 

From seven until two, you can get a mocha latte from Cafe Crema.

 

From three until eight, you can get that same mocha latte with medical marijuana and sip it socially at Canna Bistro.

 

"Traverse City has taken a step as one of the most progressive cities in regards to medical marijuana," said Joseph Sarafa, owner of Canna Bistro.

 

And businesses, like Canna Bistro, are looking to take advantage of it. Joseph Sarafa is the owner of the new medical marijuana compassion club in Traverse City and his business is unique not just to the region, but to the state.

 

"We want to bring that Amsterdam-style experience to Traverse City to try to make patients who might not be feeling too well, give them a little bit, a place where they can socialize, and a place where they can feel safe using their medicine without persecution," said Sarafa.

 

Cafe Crema will still be its normal coffee shop from 7 until 2, but then, the shop will close for an hour and re-open as a place for everything medical marijuana. The doors will be locked and the shades will be down, but for medical marijuana card-holders, they can show their card, get in, and browse the wide assortment of buds, taste a brownie, and yes, even sit down and sip on their infused latte.

 

"Our mission is to provide safe access to people throughout the city," said Sarafa. "I feel that the state law is in line with what we're doing, 100 percent."

 

But how do state lawmakers feel? I tried to find out, but it seems to be something they don't want to talk about. I contacted Representative Wayne Schmidt -- no comment. Senator Howard Walker -- no comment. And Mayor Chris Bzdok -- not available for comment.

 

The state says since April of 2009, more than 137,000 medical marijuana applications have been received with a little more than 75,000 registrations granted.

Wanted you all to know that I attended the farmers market here last night and had a great time. Music, coffee, vaporizers, costumes.. great treats.. and tricks.. if you're in the Traverse City area after 3pm.. please make sure to check this place out. Heading to the farmers market again tonight.. just a reminder to anyone that lives in the Traverse City area that there IS a northern farmers market. I'm happy to have found! Check it out if you're in the area! Including myself there were 4 farmers..

Lol no wonder you are so happygolucky.. I believe i would be too if i lived in the traverse city area... They have some incredible and smart ppl up there who have guided their local government wisely.. to say the least.. somewhat like the jackson county area..

They have a designated driver policy there i believe, qtipper.. just some murmurings i heard...

A great buddy of mine goes there at least a couple times a month and RAVES about it.. hes from my area.. so an hour or so away..

Annnie.. I couldn't agree more! I travel over an hour to get to Traverse City, the atmosphere of Canna bistro is well worth the drive. If anyone's up for a drive please make sure to stop by this place. It's so relaxing!! Such great people!!

We was n T.C for our Anv. and was going to go..BUT got robbed by Super 8 motel...In T.C So we didnt get to go ..Sounds like we missed a good time..
