My Wife Tried Smoking Medicinally.

Recommended Posts

The other night my wife was having a major flare up of her fibromyalgia. She of course knows that I'm a patient but has only smoked about five times in her life, the last time was over three years ago. She was in incredible pain to the point that she was in tears. I was rubbing her back and trying to calm her when she asked if we could go smoke. I said sure, thinking she wanted to go have a cigarette. She explained that she wanted some of my marijuana to see if it helped with the pain she was in.

As you all already know, it helped her a lot and she was feeling way less pain in a short time.

She is now thinking about talking with her doctor about getting the card.

Just thought I would share this news with you guys.

My Husband has fibromyalgia (And Aspergers Syndrome) for which he is licensed for Med use...

I am Licensed due to Spinal injuries and additional Medical issues.

Even though I am licensed-- I have made use of it only 3 times in the past year. I am one of those folks who either get panicky or go to sleep on Cannabis (depending on the strain of course) and I also hack & choke real bad.

I have found that Vaporizing works MUCH better for me than smoking--- look into getting her an inexpensive vape... it is well worth it.

PM me if ya want any info! :thumbsu:

That is fantastic. Just curious though...has she tried any of the tinctures or medibles? smoking for me is always the best but females who often don't smoke find canna-butter and tincture oil to be very effective. glad to hear she has some relief though! Good luck with everything and I'm sure it will only help much more.

I am really glad she found something that helps.

When you are in pain, you are willing to cut your right arm off to keep your left arm from hurting.

I definitely think a tincture would probably suit her as well.

It goes into the system quickly, (not as quick as smoking, but quicker than medibles) and for people that don't like or aren't used to the "high" feeling that comes with smoking, it's great because it's more the "body high" of medibles.

I am very familiar with Fibromyalgia. Smoking MMJ will help with the breakthrough pain. It will also help with the anxiety side effects of Fibro, falling asleep and/or just relaxing which can be very difficult with FMS. As a few have pointed out, ingesting/eating MMJ will be of most benefit to her by means of Tinc's, CannaButter, CannaPills, Simpson Oil..... etc, and hopefully head off other things as a secondary benefit. I would advise against talking with her Rhuematologist and/or Pain Specialist because you risk the chance of being "Let Go". Her diagnosis qualifies her through Chronic Pain. Get the last 3 Chart Notes from the Doc's and go to a MMJ Friendly Office. Plus, there will be no record in her medical files for the use of MMJ if she is ever reviewed by insurance co's, SSI, Medicare.........etc

Good Luck!

Great for her and lets hope she gets better relief with the mmj. I personally don't think it may help one aspect of Fibromyalgia regarding muscle weakness because I have a similar condition and being able to control pain is much different than maintaining strength or repetitive tasks in diseased muscles and nerves IMO. Ever since I started smoking before the medical need (37+ yrs ago)I always believed in using titration as a way to have better results if it is the 3rd or 5th, 6th, etc time you smoke that day/nite - unless you are partying of course. The principle of titration I think is important for new smokers to consider especially in the old days when it could be hard to come by or money was tight. What I mean is that I don't ever think it a good idea to take more than 1-2 hits first time of the day/nite, and then maybe 2-3 next time, etc. This way if you end up trying to get effective relief late at nite after maybe smoking a lot that day you won't burn through your stash too fast and your buzz, etc will be stronger. Usually after a good nite sleep you can wake up and repeat the cycle to manage your pain and symptoms and your tolerance level has readjusted to what it would have been at the start of the previous 24 hrs.

Another thing I think is curious about the subject of personal titration is that I think a lot of prohibitionist propaganda uses their argument against us like we got spliffs hanging out of our mouths all day long.
