Ok I lied, I will get into one detail. First, the republicans when they took power, said that they will not approve anything that would cost additional funds, except for a) defense b) repealing the health care bill, c)...

Republicans admit that repealing Healthcare would cost more than leaving it alone.

Once again, I am for a single payer system, socialize that medicine. Doctors in other countries seem to love it, patients do as well. And to all of you who say you don't want a single payer system that it is socialism, and you don't want your tax money going to pay for someone else's health, I say to you, next time your house is on fire, do the right thing and turn the Fire Department away, cause they are a socialist program. Same with the cops, completely socialistic, and please don't go to a public library. All these darn annoying socialist programs, we need to get rid of them all!

"• The circumstances under which the health care law was written and the status of its implementation, including—

• Secret negotiations among the White House and various special interests as the law was written;

Multi-billion dollar slush funds created under the law, including the early retiree and high-risk insurance pool programs, which the administration has used to dole out billions of taxpayer dollars to large corporation and unions; and

• The administration’s widespread use of waivers to exempt corporations, unions, and states from the law’s harsh mandates.

Drug safety and the actions of the FDA to protect U.S. patients;

• Widespread waste, fraud, and abuse in the Medicare program;

Already, a number of areas have emerged for additional scrutiny:

The FDA’s regulatory regime and approval process, which inhibits economic growth and entrepreneurialism;"

Sorry, but party politics aside I see a few good comments. Sadly it amounts to just more rhetoric along party lines, and will go ignored by those not being sponsored by big lobbyist groups financed by big corp and pharms.

But it would be nice to see a committee confront the FDA and make them accountable for holding cannabis research at bay yet allowing big licensed pharms to release synthetically produced components without the same oversight oxycontin received. I may be way off base here, but isn't the FDA the wrench in the rescheduling process?

One only has to know someone who lives in a country with a single payer system. I know people in France, UK, and Germany. They all love their health care and say they never have to worry about getting sick or how they would pay a health care bill. According to the CIA they all have a longer life expectancy than we do in the US. Even my doctor who says he does not like dealing with Medicaid or Medicare but says he would rather deal with a single government insurance than 50 private companies all of which have different rules and different ways of handling claims. It is not a health care takeover it is insurance reform. Anyone who has had to use insurance in the last 20 years surly can't be against reforming this corrupt and dishonest industry.

All the while the republican party spews family values, Christianity, and act like a bunch of Victorian prudes telling us how to live like Jesus would, they take campaign money from pornographers.

Aside from radiation the Japenese Insure everyone. live longer than we do and spend half as much per head.

Socialism is just the new fear word used by Republicans to smear a good idea. It does not matter how you do it what matters are results. Lets assume that we could copy their approach and succeeded in halving our costs. The result would be we could insure everyone for half as much. 20 to 40 percent of insurance costs come from their administrative costs and profit. They pay enourmous amounts to lobby Congress in their favor. In my opinion our money could go to better uses than financial friction which is what the companies are providing.

If we could use that money to pay off the national debt betcha it would go down rapidly.

Oh yeah the last CEO of United healthcare was paid 1.1 BILLION dollars for a decade worth performing his duties. The current guy is making about the same per year.

If you didn't create the company, with a unique product or service, then why is he paid so much? I have to question why they couldn't find a top notch person for one tenth of that. After all there are at least a couple of business wizards who would be ok with 10 million a year.

Seems like nice work if yopu can get it.
