found 3 yellows today nice size, also found about 40 black or grays small over the last week in Branch county. I sware the dog is running ahead and eatting them before I get there or maybe it is just Deer crap. either way I lose

This year is not looking too good for Morels in the NL. Last year was a bumper crop with the timely rain and right temps. This year that heat wave combined with dry conditions jacked everything up. We picked asparagus two weeks ago if that tells you anything..

There out there. Just had venison tendrolon with morel cream sauce. It was amazing!

My brother picked 60 over the weekend out of our spot. This time of year normally you would pull at least 400-600 out of that spot.

SFC, I had the same experience at one of my black morel locations. We picked 6½ dozen in a place where we normally get hundreds.

Does anyone find other edible mushrooms like chantrelle or hen of the woods?

I go out and pick several dozen kinds of mushrooms, including the two you mentioned.

I would say there off to a slow start, but I've been killing it the last few days. Take a look at these monsters.

Just got back from one of my most promising spots. Got skunked after 2 and 1/2 hours I was over it.

I found 4 big hand sized white morels on a busy metro park mountain bike trail today.

Looks like some small gray slugs were living inside of them.

Kind of freaked me out, so i didn't cook them tonight.

Hopefully I'll get over it.

Yea, the whites are usually more buggy than the blacks. Just cut them in half and soak them for awhile.

Ummmm where i live has a small chance of yielding some morels, have found pink bellies in a local park. Anyone in the downriver are willing to teach me about other editable mushrooms?

Never heard of pink bellies. Are they boletes? Some boletes have pink undersides. They don't have gills, the bottom of the cap looks more like a sponge.
