State Of Confusion

Recommended Posts

Well, as much as we MMJ folks admonish LEOs, local units of government, etc. for "pretending that the law is confusing," we see the same nonsense on our side of this argument too.  This article is riddled with inaccurate information.  For example:

For instance, a medical marijuana caregiver can join with others and establish a collective under some local ordinances, where they provide medical marijuana products to registered patients, in accordance with state law

Where does the state law provide for caregivers to join other caregivers in a collective?  It does not.

One individual caregiver can assist up to five patients, who can be a relative, friend, associate or other known relation, as long as they've never been convicted of a felony drug offense.

What???

Both the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office and the Oakland County Sheriff's Office have adopted the view that medical marijuana dispensaries aren't permitted under the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act.

Are dispensaries permitted under the Act?  No.  Neither the word nor the concept is even hinted at.

According to the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, which oversees the MMMA provisions, two-thirds of all Michigan patients have no access to a caregiver, meaning that the number of patients outnumbers the number of caregivers.

When has LARA made this statement?  This is a poorly-inferred conclusion by the author of the article.  There is, of  course, a huge difference between a patient who chooses not to have a CG vs. a pt who has no access to a CG.

If we are to win the battle of public opinion and support, we need to make sure we fight with credible information.  In more than one way, this article is as bad as, in an opposite sort of way, the recent video we saw where cops said a patient's card doesn't protect against "discovery."

We need accuracy on our side.  Stating our wishes as facts won't do it.

Yes, that is just something to read, I would never recommend useing a editors story for a legal guide too mmj. It's stuff like this that gets people under the radar, also there is a ton of "city ordinances" that are moot in the article.

Michigan does not have any grow inspections, nor do we need to let ANY one person know what we do in our homes, related to the benifits of our health..

As far as Rorys interaction with the police, that was just hideous, we're glad to see he video tapped it.

Yes. Rory did great. And yes local ordinances are bunk advanced by backwards fools.

Sometimes I think it would be helpful if MMJ supporters would call out the BS though. As in " it would be great if the MMMA supported this, but it does not. So let's support change." Too many people looked at the new MMMA as the answer to all things cannabis rather than the first step. I have talked to multiple people without a dog in this race and the majority opinion seems to be that the 2008 law gave us a few inches and too many folks are trying to take a mile.

This is an image we MMJ supporters need to work to change.

Eventually dispensaries will be legal and all these old timers and conservatives will be forced to eat STEMS n STICK and shut the FUX up and go along with what the masses in society deem as LAW.

Its coming get with the times.  The hard part is just keeping individuals rights preserved to grow their own and pass a distribution law.

The nice thing is time is on our side. The folks who really believe all the reefer madness nonsense will be dead soon. The only ones left to support it will be those in it for personal gain and when the light of day hits them and exposes what they've been doing they'll be gone too.
