Recommended Posts

The St. Clair County Drug Task Forced seized $326,000 of marijuana, 28 guns and other items following an investigation Friday.

The Drug Task Force was investigating the sale of marijuana in the Yale area when a member of the unit observed an alleged drug transaction in the Emmett area.

A traffic stop was performed on one of the vehicles and the task force was led to the 40-year-old man’s Melvin home in the 400 block of Wellman Line, according to a statement from the St. Clair County Sheriff Department.

A search warrant was executed at the home with the assistance of the Sanilac County Sheriff Department. The large amount of marijuana, along with about $2,000 of hashish, $200 of psilcocybin mushrooms, $40,000 in cash, two vehicles, a motorcycle and the 28 guns were seized.

The investigation continued to the execution of a second search warrant in the 5000 block of Gratiot Road in St. Clair Township. A 25-year-old man was arrested and more marijuana was seized.

“We understand that there are legal ways to grow medical marijuana,” St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon said in the statement. “However, the gentleman from Melvin exceeded the limits of the law by a huge amount. Just like with anything else, if you break the law, you will be arrested. That is what happened in this case.”

Both men were taken to the St. Clair County jail.

The Melvin man faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver, possession of hashish with intent to deliver, possession of psilocybin mushrooms, maintaining a drug house and felony firearms.

The St. Clair Township man faces charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

A St. Clair County Sheriff dog, U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and U.S. Homeland Security Investigation Unit also assisted in the investigation.

These reports never cease to amaze me. There is an awful lot of missing information between " a traffic stop" and " led to the man's home" ". Also, the amount of marijuana confiscated is stated in Police inflated dollar amounts instead of weight. Very misleading.
