Can you fix an HP Pavillion laptop? The picture is all scrambled unless you hold it just right and it's missing a few buttons on the keyboard.

Trade for meds?

Thanks

Warning: To avoid spyware and trojan viruses avoid viewing bud porn on your personal computer. If you cannot resist the urge, always use protection. To my knowledge bud porn is endorsed and condoned by the MMMA. Always practice safe surfing.

If RC gets too busy, i can help out. i work in the IT business. I also work on computers on the side. I can give a pointer or two here and there. But if any real work needs to be done, i have to charge. It's my family's time, hope y'all understand. I am almost always at least half the price of Geek Squad for equivalent work.

ok, first, what are you running? vista? 7? xp? apple? the fastest way to find out whats wrong, is to figure out if its a hardware, or software issue. The name of the game is trouble shoot, root cause! first, go to your start menu (making this as basic as possible as i have no idea your skills and abilities!) go to your control panel, depending on your operating system (xp,7) find "device manager". should be under hardware and sound. in your device manager, check to see if there are any (!) or (?). In device manager you should see a tab for sound, video, and game controllers. See if there are any asterisks in there. PM be back with what you find and the OS your running. I'll talk you through it from there!

I completely agree with RCGrowing. Start simple and work your way out. Is it plugged in? Try plugging in your speakers then restarting the computer. Sometimes a good restart is all a computer needs to detect and load drivers again. Also, how did you turn off WMP? If you "turn it back on", does the audio return? After that, Device Manager is where you would look for those issues to get resolved. IF you have a Creative brand soundcard (most do nowdays), their drivers are notoriously bad. Their "latest greatest" driver is almost never that! Let us know what happens after that. Also, some content requires special 'codecs'. The two best places i have seen to get the codecs for almost every thing is K Lite Codecs and Xiph.org/vorbis Both of those should be installed on your computer anyway, to ensure you can hear any music file format. I would recommend downloading the VLC Media Player as well for all your video formats.
