MTV Confirms Return of ‘Beavis and Butt-Head’

Deadbeats, slackers and misfits rejoice! “Beavis and Butt-Head” are making a comeback… “Heh Heh.”

After months of speculation–and 14 years off the air–MTV confirmed Wednesday that the animated series featuring the dumb-and-dumber dudes is being rebooted for the network. Although a premiere date was not announced, the show is expected to return this summer.

Rumors that MTV was resurrecting the pop-culturally iconic ’90s cartoon were first reported last July by the New York Post.

The move is reportedly one step in MTV’s strategic plan to return to its original format and get back to its music-driven roots. The network has been criticized in recent years for losing its identity after a programming slate dominated by non-music-related reality shows, such as “The Hills,” “Teen Mom,” and current craze “Jersey Shore,” took over the airwaves.

The new Beavis and Butt-Head will remain as we knew them, perpetual high-schoolers, according to the Post, “but updated so that the pals — who obsessively watch music videos on a battered TV set — could lob their snarky comments at more current targets like Lady Gaga.”

Created by Mike Judge (”King of the Hill”), the animated series premiered on MTV in 1993 and ran until 1997. The boys also made a leap to the big screen in 1996 for the movie. “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America.” More on These Topics: Beavis and Butt-head | Jersey Shore | Mike Judge | MTV | Teen Mom | The Hills | The New York Post | Top

If theyre the same as the originals then I'm in but like you I think its going to be a very weak version, BUT I did watch that show skins after hearing all about it and MTV is definatly pushing the limits with that show so maybe bevis and butthead is no big deal
