What Soilless Mix Would You Recommend?

Johnny Blaze

Recommended Posts

Hey, I'm just getting started with my first indoor grow (actually my first grow period), so I'm just looking for any feedback. I have thoroughly planned everything out... from germination to drying. I ordered some feminized 'LSD' seeds from barney's, and some big buddha cheese (feminized also). As a bonus, they thru in 2 auto-flowering strains (Red Dwarf and some ish called 'Deimos'). Also have a White Widow hybrid that a buddy of mine came up with, we call it 'Conquistadow' (His own hybrid that he named "Conquistador" crossed w/ White Widow). So, I guess I have two questions. 1.) Anyone had good results using ProMix BX? (also what type of nutes did you use with the promix?) And 2.) Do I just leave the lights on the auto-flowering ladies for 18 hrs on / 6 hrs off thru their whole life? Right now they're only a little over 2 weeks old and I got them veggin' under a T5. Haven't heard much about the auto-flowering varieties at all though, so any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.... Johnny Blaze

Do you add anything to the mix. ie;, lime, bone or bloodmeal etc.?

I just got a bale to try... I expect a learning curve ...again...lol Been useing ffof. The bugs are driving me crazy..

Probably have to adhere more strictly to the feeding schedule ?

thanks in advance for the timely information, I just decided to try it today since I can get it alot closer to home.

I'm 30 days into my very first flower using ProMix BX. The only nutes I've used are the SensiGrow A and B (different formulas for veg and flower).

So far, so good. My veg plants grow like crazy, and flowering has gone very well. I feed them every time I water, as instructed by the grow store.

Good day Doc,

What size smart pots you use?

How far (how many) pots does a bale go?

How many T5's in bloom room, how placed?

Gh nutes.....the 3 part...or Lucas?

I know, lots of questions.........your good results with x amount of light caught my attention. I may try Pro mix!

Pro Mix rocks, Tarzans photos show it , but more than anything they show his love for them :goodjob:

Just bought 3 bails today for $100,

might have to go get another 3 .

Promix works great as a base for Subcools Organic soils or any organic soil grow , its base is very strong for building on . Either way this is the best in my humble opinion for your dollar , unless you get bails of peat and perlite and lime lime it down and add mych then you have made your own for 1/4 the cost .

Tricky part is gettin caclcitic and dolomitic lime in fine form .Hence just paying the extra money this time as my stash of lime is low again .

If you bought 3 bails of :

ProMix BX w/ Biofunicide

Thats One Heck of a Deal in Northern Michigan ...

Most Hydro Stores sell it for $49 a bail ....

and i thought i was doing great at $40 a bail ... WoW

Thanks " ODAWADANNY " for the Kind Word ...

You and the Wife need to come over for the Day ...

WE'LL MAKE YOU DINNER and I have Desert .... :bighug:

That is an absolutely beautiful grow room DrT. You have inspired me to redo my own flower room this summer and add some T5's. I am on my last grow for the season (taking the summer off - too hot to grow inside) and have used my veg room to flower the last of my veggies. I have 400's in the veg room and the plants (3 weeks into flower) look as good as the ones in my flower room under 600 watters! I can't wait to see if the buds get as big under the 400's.After viewing your results I am very optimistic.

I'm using Pro-Mix BX with mycorise pro. I started off with Pro-Mix HP but I was watering/feeding far too often. That stuff is too airy in my opinion. Here's a pdf I found a while back with the info on Pro-Mix BX.

I'm really happy with the BX so far... especially as far as pH goes. It starts off around 5.5 and about a month into flower its around 6 after being feed with 6-7 pH'd nutes and water since the start.

I've been wondering the last few weeks if reusing it is possible without too much trouble. Anybody know?
