Fake Medical Marijuana Dispensary

Recommended Posts

Peter Mattaroo and Kristine Bauer, a Colorado Springs couple, have been arrested after police say they discovered an unlicensed medical marijuana dispensary in their apartment that allegedly sold much more than pot, KKTV reports.

Mattaroo's and Bauer's operation had a display case, credit card reader, a cash register, a surveillance system, and a variety of pot in stock somewhat resembling a legitimate medical marijuana dispensary. However, police say that the couple's operation, run out of an apartment bedroom, also had cocaine, psychedelic mushrooms, prescription drugs, dozens of guns and bullet proof vests and nearly 200 marijuana plants, according to KRDO.

Colorado Springs police learned of the illegal operation when they stopped a vehicle during a routine traffic stop that was being driven by minors. 7News reports that during the stop, they discovered that the three juveniles, all of whom did not have medical marijuana cards, had just bought marijuana from the apartment.

According to the Gazette, police allegedly found a second location that is believed to be where the couple grows its marijuana. All in all, the police found 13 pounds of pot, 198 marijuana plants, 34.4 grams of cocaine, 7.2 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, and 68.5 prescription pills. 9News adds on to that tally 27 guns and nearly a dozen bullet proof vests.

Mattaroo and Bauer, both 28-years-old, are each held on a $50,000 bond. Police say that two other arrests are also pending.
