Oakland County drug warrior Jessica Cooper has been defeated in the Democratic Primary. This comes as welcome news to those of us who have been subjected to her vindictive treatment of cannabis patients. Jessica, we voted you out "for the children".

With  83% of precincts reporting, former Oakland County Circuit Judge Karen McDonald was headed toward an upset win in Tuesday’s Democratic primary election for Oakland County prosecutor. 

McDonald tallied 111,675 votes, for a dominant 66.0% of those tallied, to 57,457 votes or 33.9% for incumbent Prosecutor Jessica Cooper, who has served more than 11 years in the post and was Oakland’s first Democratic prosecutor in 40 years. 

The winner will face Republican attorney Lin Goetz, who was unopposed for her party's nomination.  With Oakland County expected to lean decidedly blue in November’s general election, McDonald is likely to be the next Oakland County prosecutor.
