My Experience With Portable Vaporizers For Concentrated Cannabis Oil And E-Cigarette Oil

My journey with pen vaporizers began with quitting smoking cigarettes. 30 years of smoking cigarettes, it was well time to quit.

Since the software update on this website, many of the images in this blog entry have been lost. You can view the complete content of this blog and more here: http://cchub.org/Blogs/blogs.html

I started off with purchasing a Dream Vapor Electronic Cigarette kit for $25.99. It took me about a week before I could fully stop the cigarettes and only use the e-cigarette. The first couple of weeks I noticed that my lungs were clearing up and I could breathe better. That is when I realized that I just had to make concentrated cannabis oil work in one of these refillable tank style e-cigarettes.

WARNING: The information and links I have posted throughout this blog were as I was learning. My opinion in some of the things has changed. Like the $37 SVD, it is low quality and not the real deal. I recommend the $89 kit through High Desert Vapes. The Dream Vapor, I no longer recommend that product. The C4 Clearomizer, I do not recommend that for cannabis oil, but it is acceptable for e-cigarette oils. For e-cigarettes, or any pen battery use, I recommend the eGo C Twist variable voltage batteries only, preferably the 650mAh. As you get to the end of the blog, you will see that I have gained more experience. I have tried the concentrate straight, e-cannabis oil, and I have found preferred products. In other words, read the blog to the end before making a product decision.

After some failures in testing different mixtures, I found what seems to work best. It seems that Propylene Glycol USP, which is a component used in many of the e-cigarette oils, works best. It is important to be sure to get Propylene Glycol USP. The PG USP is used in medicines and some food and beverage processing. It is also great for using in topical solutions. PG USP helps medicine penetrate skin and tissue which enables the medicine to enter the bloodstream more quickly and easily. PG USP also helps chemicals bond together.

The PG USP reduces the temperature required to vaporize the RSO (Concentrated Cannabis), which makes it possible to evenly vaporize the RSO with the e-cigarettes.

I have compared vaporizing straight RSO vs. RSO with PG USP added. For portable electronic vaporizers, RSO with PG USP seems better to me, I prefer it. It is not only the vaporizing with an e-cigarette, there are other benefits. Such as, being able to hold 1/2 ounce worth of bud, transformed into oil in the vaporizer tank. One fill can keep a patient medicated for weeks. You just cannot beat the convenience. Also, it seems to have a different effect when inhaling. It is almost like taking a draw from a medicine inhaler.

It is easy to mix the PG USP with the RSO. All you need to do is gently warm the RSO in a large spoon or small bowl just until it begins to "melt". Remove from the heat and mix in the PG USP. I have found that a 70% RSO to 30% PG USP works best. However it can vary any where from 10 - 50% PG USP, also personal preference fits into the equation. After the RSO and PG USP are mixed well, suck it up into a syringe. You now have E-Cannabis oil ready to fill an e-cigarette tank and start vaporizing your oil!

Since I have started doing this, I have not even desired to smoke a joint. I think in the last 3-4 weeks I have smoked maybe one.

The Eclipse vape is a nice portable vaporizer. They even have one that will conveniently attach to most water pipes. Here is a link to their store (Herbal Innovations) http://herbalinnovations1.com/eclipsevape.html The eclipse vapes are available at other stores as low as $49, but this is a good place to start.

Eclipse Oil Vape 11 10 11

I love their vaporizers, they are great. The Eclipse vape is meant for vaporizing oils and waxes straight, without adding PG USP or whatever. My biggest complaint with them is that they can be very inconvenient. You have to use a torch lighter and it is very easy to overheat and burn your product. It is not something you would want to use out in public or even outdoors on a windy day. However, they are very durable, cool, and nice to own, but just does not do it for me.

The SVD will do it all. You can even attach G-Pen accessories if you have an adapter. Just the way it comes with eGo and 510 threads, most companies parts will attach to it. If they won't there is probably and adapter out there.

For example: This picture shows my SVD with an Essential mini attachment which is meant for waxes and such straight, no oils infused with PG USP. It works good and all, tastes good too, but inconvenient because you have to load it often. Really the essential mini attachment is a cheap part, like many of the other cannabis vaping devices that are available. It threaded right on to the SVD and I can use it better with the SVD than with their batteries. With the SVD you can lower or increase the temperature, it can be adjusted perfectly to accommodate the oil or attachment you are using. There are even attachments meant for vaping buds that will attach to the SVD. I have not used any of those though so I cannot properly comment about them. the 710 pen parts will fit the SVD too. You can simply purchase a replacement heating element and screw it on to the SVD. The SVD displays the resistance (ohms) of the attachment which helps in setting the power properly.

SVD with essential attachment 122413 1017

Again, some of these devices are not meant for vaping liquid oils. In most cases, with the SVD you can, with their parts. The reason why is you can purchase the 510-510 sealed adapter and attach it between the SVD and their part-attachment. If any oil leaks down it is no big deal. It will not effect the SVD or the attachment since the leaked oil gets trapped within the 510-510 sealed adapter. I have previously provided a link to the adapter.

I recommend the AW batteries for the SVD. I also recommend the TrustFire battery charger. Also, the SVD is like two different vaporizers in one. Using the short battery it is mini sized, then if you use the longer battery it is larger. Very noticeable on the size difference between batteries used. For the few extra bucks that you pay for the SVD compared to other vaporizers of similar construction, it is well worth it. Just the looks alone it is worth it. You can hold down the buttons and lock the settings to where you can't accidentally change the settings.

All around, I would have to say the SVD is the world's best electronic vaporizer for e-cigarettes, concentrated cannabis, or e-cannabis oil.

Whether you are using the SVD with the iClear attachments or attachments from other companies, or even other batteries. In between charging the batteries, always verify that the unit and battery are clean from potential oil leakage. Sticky oil can cause great damage to the unit, battery, and charger. Just use some 99% isopropyl alcohol. This is a very important preventative maintenance measure.

At this point, all of my threaded battery chargers for the pen style batteries, have a 510-510 adapter on them, not threaded in too tight. Doing this has already saved me from damaging three batteries.

At a glance you cannot see even the thinnest coating of leaked oil. This oil acts like super glue in the charger, especially when charged overnight. When you go to remove the battery from the charger, that is when the damage occurs. This is preventable using the 510-510 adapter and making sure your parts are clean before charging.

Good news vaporizing friends! Someone that has been following my vaporizing blogs has has good success. They informed me that innoken has released some new vaporizing devices, potentially much better than what I have now.

So, I did a search and found a place to purchase some of these new accessories.

I knew of one of them, the Kanger Pro Tank 3 (not innoken) it is the first Pro Tank that has a dual coil element. Many people have found that dual coil is the only way to go for vaporizing. You can get a much bigger hit. Or you can take smaller hits and they will be more consistent without having to wait in between. With these new devices, that should not be as much of an issue because gravity will now be working for you and not against you. The heating coils are on the bottom instead of top. The Pro Tank's have always been made with a glass casing. There have been a lot of complaints of them leaking at the bottom. I am assuming it is due to the bottom coil. I have not seen one yet, but I will soon. The reason why I didn't purchase one when I first saw them was because of the negative reviews. However, the videos I saw of the Pro Tank 3 were very impressive.

I saw that they have the iClear 30b by innoken. That is a bottom feed coil with short wicks. They also have the iClear 16b with the same construction as the 30b. I want to see if the iClear 30b and 16b are interchangeable like the iClear 30 and 16 are.

So I decided to order one of the Pro Tank 3's since I am ordering the iClear 30b and 16b and now I can do a complete comparison between the three products with the same oil and the same vaporizing unit.

I still have that 30mL bottle of e-cannabis oil, maybe I will use that!

I see that innoken has new vaporizers. They look pretty cool and all. However, when I look at the specifications, I am sorry, they do not compare to the SVD. I sure hope they do not discontinue the SVD, that is my favorite vape! I can't say that I have seen anything that I think would be better.

Okay, I filled them all up with the same oil. My BBJ QWISO hash. I kind of consider that one my lower quality oil due to the strain. It releases a lot of chlorophyll, but it is very potent.

The Innokin iClear 16b is real nice and all. It offers a lot of taste, but it is not a replacement for the standard iClear 16 for pen use. The reason why is it is fatter, larger, and heavier. The products were so new they did not offer a choice of colors so they sent me one that has a wood grain. It is really cool, I like it and all, but it is not my preference since it is not dedicated to a pen, in my opinion. It may be a better device with lower quality oil since it offers so much taste. The main reason why it has so much more taste is because it is made with a lot of plastic. For some reason, plastic acts like glass when it comes to vaporizing. Obviously glass is better. So far it works real good and I don't have anything negative to say about it. Not what I would choose for my SVD because of the shape and appearance. When it comes to vaping e-ciggs using my SVD, I think I may prefer it. I will have to get another one and try it with e-cigg oil.

Again, the SVD does it all. The 16b has a wider diameter with eGo threads. It just barely fit inside the beauty ring on the SVD.Another good thing about the SVD is that the beauty ring can be conveniently removed to accommodate any style of attachment. Also, the SVD had no problems operating with the eGo threads. I also tried it with an eGo C Twist battery, again, no problems, it operated just fine. I have never heard anyone complain that an SVD would not work correctly with eGo threads, but many other APV style vaporizers that come with 510 and eGo threads, I have heard many complaints of eGo thread equipment not working. The items attach on fine, but they would not contact correctly and would not work. This is another reason why I say the SVD is the all around best vape.

There is a negative side that I can think of with the heating coils being on the bottom. It more so effects e-cigg users. When the coils get used and are a little dirty, it will darken or contaminate the fresh oil in the vaporizer. I have noticed this more with my e-cigg vaping with a top coil unit when I over fill it. That is why I do my best to avoid over filling my top coil unit. It is not really a big deal sometimes it can effect the taste a little, but it was mostly noticeable with clear oil and when it gets contaminated from the dirty to coil, the oil changes to a rust color. The only other negative thing I can think of with a bottom coil, this is more directed to e-cannabis oil. There is less distance from the coil to the battery so you could get oil dripping to the battery much faster than with a top coil unit. I have noticed that single top coil units that oil will drip to the battery quicker than a dual coil unit. I will have to use these units for a while to pick up on any other issues that may come up.

Now for the iClear 30b. I like how the dual coils criss cross. The unit is much heavier than the regular iClear 30. It feels very high quality. Provides awesome hits. So far all I can say about this unit is good things. I am very happy with my purchase of the iClear 30b. I believe they are also offered without the rotating tip. When and if I can get one I will. I would like to know if the tip is replaceable with other types of drip tips. It seems like the tank is very high quality, seems like it is glass. You can take more repeated hits without having to wait for the oil to saturate the coil. I will keep using the unit and see how it holds up long term. My first impression is that it is awesome. It also looks really good on the SVD.

The KangerTech Pro Tank 3 dual coil. The coils are stacked on top of each other. I don't really care for that. It is a little smaller than the iClear 30b, but it looks just as nice on the SVD. It looks like it belongs on it. It gives a lot more of an air draw than the 30b. I am not yet sure if I how I feel about that. The taste is really good since the tank is glass. There is one really cool thing about the pro tank 3. The drip tip or mouthpiece. It is a standard 510 drip tip. That is a big benefit. There are hundreds of different drip tips that you can conveniently pop in. First thing I did after trying it, was to put my custom blown glass drip tip in it. I could definitely taste the difference with the glass tip compared to the standard metal tip.

Here is where I got my glass drip tip from. They also have metal and plastic drip tips, long ones, short ones, rotating ones, even tips that glow in the dark! https://highdesertvapes.com/categories/Drip-Tips/

Not 100% sure yet, but it does seem that the bottom coil does cause more dripage down to the battery. I can't really tell which I like better yet between the pro tank 3 and the iClear 30b. They both seem very impressive. I will just have to keep vaping on them until I can decide which I like better.

After more testing, I will report back with more thorough information.

I posted the following at another web forum and I thought it would be good to add to this blog.

QWISO, wax, etc. an eclipse vape may be your best choice. I could not believe the difference comparing the QWISO to RSO in the eclipse vape. The QWISO is so much more efficient and easier to use too. Cheap and convenient for home use. You will need a torch type lighter to use the eclipse vape. I prefer the dual flame type. They  also make a similar unit that attaches to a water bong. I may have to get me one.

For concentrated cannabis oils that are not decarbed, I would recommend the eclipse vape. For concentrated cannabis oils thar are decarbed, I do not recommend the eclipse vape. Mine came in a really cool carrying case too. You can get extra glass vials also.

okay, so now I have to get the dang eclipse H2O water pipe rig! I am used to using RSO. It can be impressive in the eclipse vapes but very wasteful and very easy to get harsh and painful hits. Heating it is almost like an art and requires skill for it to be enjoyable. That is why I stopped using it, was too much of a PITA. RSO works great in the electronic vaporizers when mixed with PG USP. Keep in mind RSO is decarbed concentrated oil.

Anyway, I just tried QWISO for the first time in my hand held eclipse vape. QWISO, being not decarbed, is very similar in the electronic e-cigg vaporizers, but WOW, a big difference in the eclipse vape. It brings a whole new life to my eclipse vape. This was surprising to me, the taste. Almost identical to my iClear 30b. Keeping in mind that has PG USP added to it. With the eclipse, the QWISO straight, it has virtually the exact same taste. Maybe it is just the strain that I used, I do not know. I do know that it was so much more enjoyable vs. RSO when it comes to the eclipse vape. It may be the best way to use QWISO. A lot less waste, you can really apply a lot more heat without damaging the oil. It dose not require as much skill in heating as the RSO. I will be using my eclipse vape more often with the QWISO now that I know what I know.

Just wanted to pull it out to test it with QWISO to see if I really want the eclipse H2O water bong attachment. The eclipse vape I have now says made in California, USA right on it too!

An eclipse vape for vaping or smoking may be the best way to go for non decarbed concentrates. I think I have seen the hand held unit as low as $49.

I have seen the hand held units cheap, I am not sure if they were the original eclipse vape or an imitation though.

I just might be ordering myself a back up now that I know QWISO works well in them http://eclipsevapevaporizer.com/

The eclipse vape is great and all, but I find myself immediately wanting to go back to my SVD.

I do recommend that everyone try an eclipse vape. They are worth it and very high quality. For $50 or less, you can't beat it. With oils that are not decarbed I would put it up there on the low end of medicinal quality use. It some what compares to e-vaporizing. It is nice how you can get it extra hot and in between smoke and vapor.

Either way, I find myself going back to the SVD for single handed ease of use. There is just something about the SVD, I just can't get enough!

The following is my reply to a question I received in regards to e-cannabis oil. By no means is this the only other reply I have given nor is it the only comment I have received. I have received many questions and compliments as well as others reporting their success of finding what they were looking for in e-cannabis oil.

I do not recommend using the Bicardi 151 or any other 151 proof alcohol, there is too much water in it. I am sure you are aware that 99% isopropyl alcohol is also a good solvent. Here is a link to where you can get some 190 everclear, they will ship to Michigan. http://www.winechate...OHOL-190@-750ML

You don't have to use RSO, you can use QWISO. There is a big difference in the taste between the two.

The clearomizers you are using, well, I don't recommend them. Those look like they are all single coil the one on the left and middle appear to be C4's. The one on the right I am guessing is a bottom single coil with glass. I don't recommend glass. I just learned this. I also don't recommend a single coil when it comes to cannabis oil. It is easier to burn, harsher, and as for the glass, same problem. It is more tasty, but it can seriously aid in the harshness or burning feeling. Not just that, the air intake has a lot to do with the harshness. I noticed my Pro Tank 3 has much more air intake and is much harsher than my iClear 30b. The iClear 30b has a more restricted air intake. You kind of take little power puffs instead of long drags. There is just something about it when you add more air, there is a lot more burning or harshness. The C4 clearomizers have more air intake since they are only single coil and the way they are designed.

The units I recommend for e-cannabis oil are only innokin products. iClear 30b, iClear 30, and iClear 16. Also, you may prefer an iClear 16b, however, these only have eGo threads. All of these units are double coil and better yet, the coils criss cross, they are the best. My favorite so far is the iClear 30b, it is heavy, but I like it a lot. It does get more leakage to the battery due to the b units are bottom fed. However, since the wicks are short and it being bottom fed, it is worth the bit of leaking or drippage from use. It just three times faster than a top fed unit, the drippage. If you are concerned about your battery, you can always use a 510 to 510 sealed connector. I use those on all of my pen battery chargers. I clean my SVD each time I take the clearomizer off. I clean it with alcohol. It is worth the minimal hassle.

It is not just me saying this. Each patient that has tried my SVD said it is the best they have ever had.

With vaporizing, the cleaner the oil, the better. Have you considered winterizing your oil?

Just going with QWISO alone, using no heat, the oil seems to come out cleaner, less dark. It is different, but just as good.

Are you doing a frozen extract? Here is how I do mine
http://www.rollitup....ncentrated.html

http://michiganmedicalmarijuana.org/blog/532/entry-1098-rso-qwiso-concentrates-by-grow-goddess/

I recommend doing the extraction with 99% iso. After it is fully purged and done, dilute it with 190 Everclear, like a cup worth four up to 5 grams. Put it in a jar in the freezer for three days. Then pour it through a coffee filter into your purge pan. That should make your oil come out cleaner. Yes you will lose some of your weight, but oh man, the difference it can make. The cleaner the oil, the better when it comes to vaping.

Instead of using those C4 clearomizers. Switch to a rebuildable iClear 16. Those are dual coil and are a lot smoother. They just work better. I get most of my stuff at High Desert Vapes. They don't have the iClear 30b yet, but I am sure they will soon. The iClear 30b used on the SVD is the best I have had yet. The second best is a regular iClear 30. The third best is an iClear 16. I would throw the Pro Tank 3 in there, it could actually be the second best, maybe if I tried thick metal tips, but I don't think so due to the extra air flow.

Here is a link to my vapor blog, on the bottom of page 1 is a link to SkunkPharms winterizing, they call it polishing.
http://michiganmedic...-cigarette-oil/

Lastly, I would not try the VG, it does not mix well and really serves no purpose. I would only stick with using the PG USP. You just need the right vaping equipment and the cleanest possible oil.

I hope this information has been helpful. You gotta keep going. You'll get it down. I was in the same position you are in trying to figure out what works best. For good reason. Convenient vaping of oil is the safest way to consume cannabis aside from edibles.

So far I must say the iClear 30b seems to be the best. Its main competitor is the Pro Tank 3. The Pro Tank 3 seems just as good in many ways, if not better in some. However, for e-cannabis oil, the iClear 30b blows the doors off of the Pro Tank 3. The iClear 30b is the best so far.

I noticed adding my custom glass tip to the Pro Tank 3, it made the taste even better, I was impressed, but it also made the harsh burning effect worse. It is as if the iClear 30 and the iClear 30b were made for use with e-cannabis oil.

The Pro Tank 3 may be better with e-cigarette oil, but it is not better when it comes to cannabis oil.

Either way, the iClear 30b and the Pro Tank 3 each seem to be high quality products. As soon as I am done typing this, I am ordering another iClear 30b, if not 2! They don't give options yet, like straight tip or swivel tip. I just ordered the regular clear and I got the swivel tip, which I prefer. I got them from Ziggy's Vapes. They say it is on sale right now as well as the Pro Tank 3. They offer a pretty good price for the Pro Tank 3, same with the iClear 30b. http://www.ziggysvapes.com/ also available here https://highdesertvapes.com/

Be sure to order extra wicks!!

Well I have consumed one full tank. I filled up all three units. I could not help it, I consumed the iClear 30b the fastest because I enjoyed that one the most. I refilled the iClear 30b with my best oil that I am most familiar with. It has a small hint of diesel flavor in it normally since I used one ounce of diesel out of the 12 that I used to make this oil. I was bummed out to have a slight diesel taste, but still, it is some of the best oil I have made. Very noticeable difference between the iClear 30b and the iClear 30. In the 30 I can taste the strains, and can distinctively taste the diesel. Where as in the iClear 30b, I could not taste the diesel. It is like I said previously, the metal seems to absorb flavors. The iClear 30b has more metal than the 30, it is very heavy. This can be a really good effect. I did not care for the diesel taste and with the iClear 30b, it just taste like ganja. In a way, that makes me like them each equally. Certain flavors I want to taste with some of the past oils I have made. That is really cool having multiple options. With the 30b, it loses flavor, but not taste, also, the hits are more smoother.

Also with the 30b, it has two small grooves cut out so it can still pull air when attached onto other APV vaporizers.

Between the iClear 30 and iClear 30b, well, that is personal preference depending upon your mood or the type of oil you have. The 30b, I prefer to lay it down sideways because there is less leakage when not in use. The 30, top fed, I prefer to leave it in the standing or up position because there is less leakage to the battery.

The iClear 16b, I have used that one the least. I don't have any complaints with it really except that it does not act as a good replacement for the standard iClear 16 in regards to pen batteries. They should have called it the iClear 20 or something like that. It is pretty much all plastic, that enhances fruity type flavors. It is more durable than the standard iClear 16. It has eGo threads, which surprises me because most of innokin's vaporizers do not have eGo threads anymore. It works great with the SVD! It is a well built unit for the price. Personally, I prefer the 30 series clearomizers.

Back to the SVD. I think I have the battery numbers figured out now. I only use AW batteries, period. For instance, battery number 18350, the 18 stands for the diameter in mm, typically 18.something, the 350 is the length in mm, in some cases the length might be three fifty something. Now that I believe this is the battery numbering system in most cases, that should mean that the SVD can be used in three standard sizes and not just two. There is an 18490 battery available. This should be right in between the sizes I currently have. The 18650 and the 18350.

When I get the new battery, I will follow up with a report.

Link to comment

Well, been vaping on all three. The iClear 30, iClear 30b, and ProTank 3. The PT3 and 30b, I can't leave them standing up. I have to lay them down sideways which has solved the small leaking issue. I expected them to leak due to the design. Now with the 30, that needs to stand up to eliminate leaking or clogging. I like them all, especially since I can have a different oil in each. You can just pick up and vape whatever you are in the mood for.

SVD Vaporizers 3 1 14 14 011

Sometimes when they clog up, take the clearomizer off, put a napkin on the bottom and blow into it. This will help to clear it out. That pushes the fluid back down into the chamber.

With a top fed unit, to get it to load oil back up to the coil quicker, suck in real hard before pressing the power button to vape.

I like to use the power button with a little art or skill to it. I will hold it down a good couple of seconds, and as it glows bright, let off the button until it dims, push it till it is bright again and let off again. I usually have my temps adjusted to where it works best that way. I have noticed that the QWISO is a bit more flexible when it comes to the temperatures.

I do have to admit, the more I use the ProTank3, the more I am liking it. As it kind of clogs up and does not draw as much air, it has become more desirable to me. When I take less hits and use it for daytime, it does not burn the throat as much as it did at first. You see, after first using and abusing, it started to really burn my throat. Part of the reason is that it draws more air than other clearomizers.Small, quick puffs rather than long draws. Just a matter of getting used to. It is a quality unit, really it falls to personal preference. I have noticed that glass can cause the burning feeling, make it worse, on the good side, you can taste more flavor.

The iClear 30, I have to keep that, I can taste the individual strains in it. I also like how I have to keep it standing up to prevent leaking.

It is nice to have both around, one lying down and the other standing up. Really, what is wrong with having a couple nice vapes around?  The force will be with us., always.

I received my orders the other day, from both companies, Ziggy's Vapes and Fast Tech. I have no complaints with either company.

Vaporizing accessories 1 14 14 009

learned a couple of things from my order from Hong Kong (Fast Tech). It appears that the Silver SVD is different than the Stainless SVD. It appears the SVD's I already had are the Silver version. There are small differences between the two. They immediately jacked up the price where they are now the same. Here is a link https://www.fasttech.com/search?svd

Anyway, I notice there was a difference, so I immediately ordered a silver one to see if it is different than the ones I already have. I will report back when I receive it. The stainless one is just as cool, just a little different. Personally, I would take the silver one since it appears the threads are cut.

The taller one is the stainless one I just received for $36 and some change. You can see the threads don't have a cut in them for airflow if for some reason needed. The silver ones I already owned have cuts in the thread. The trigger buttons are different, but nothing major.

With my order from Fast Tech, I got some iClear 16 pen battery clearomizers. I never saw anything like them. Seem better than any other I have seen. These came from Hong Kong for around $3 each, and no shipping cost too! It is difficult to explain, but they are crystal clear. They also have an additional gasket at the mouthpiece, like a C4. Probably  better quality. It appears that way so far anyway. Using it as an e-cigarette, they seem like the best yet. I bet they will work well for the e-cannabis oil too.

I forgot to mention the battery charger.

I ordered the TrustFire TR001 model. It is the cheaper one. You want to flip the switch to 3.6 volt. I own more expensive, fancier chargers, including TrustFire. This cheaper TR-001 model is my favorite. It is one of the smallest chargers. It charges the 18350 batteries the best, as well as the 18650 batteries.

This charger solved my problem with charging the 18350 batteries.

I paid less than $8 for it too!

Check out all these different AW batteries that can be used in the SVD!  5 different sizes really, but three main sizes, large, medium, and small. You can even stack two of the smallest batteries together (18350) and double your voltage. I don't care to do that though, it is not really worth it when you can buy the AW 18650 protected battery 2600mAh. That is more powerful than the two small ones stacked together. At least it lasts longer. A lot of vaporizers will not accept the protected batteries since they are a bit longer than the non protected ones. The SVD does it all! it takes all of the 18mm diameter batteries that are 3.7 volts, possibly others too, not sure. I only recommend these batteries.

Left to right: 18650 protected, two 18350 stacked, 18650 unprotected, 18490, and 18350.

AW batteries multiple sizes 1 22 14 018

Your basic $37 SVD does not come with the larger battery sleeve. That does not matter. The larger battery sleeve does not have additional threads it is just for looks. The extra height or length is not threaded. It is cool to have, but not necessary.

Thanks to Dragon311 pointing out the iClear 30b, well, I think I am done with testing different clearomizers, I have finally found the best, hands down. For the first time I have vaporized more than 4 grams of oil without having to change the heating element. There has been no degrading, it still vapes very well and I am sure I can vape more oil through it too.

I took my iClear 30b, nearly vaporized every drop out of it, I did leave it standing up more often when it was almost empty, then I cleaned it up spotless. I then put the RSO that I winterized with grain alcohol the same oil in the picture in a comment above, mixed it about 50/50 with PG USP and put it into the cleaned up iClear 30b. First thing I noticed is that I had to turn the voltage down to 6 pm (wattage) with the cleaner oil. Keeping in mind the oil was winterized, and I am very familiar with this SVD, I have never had to turn it down that far before, at least not with e-cannabis oil.

So far, I must say that this is the most efficient way to vaporize the oil. As long as you can try to avoid standing the SVD up when using the iClear 30b, especially when it is full, I don't recommend more than 2 grams, it is the best I have used period.

The whole shizam can be purchased for around $100, possibly less. I paid about that much for my first basic piece of crap e-cigarette.

I am all done testing for a little while, at least hardware until I see something better. Here is the all around best hardware I have seen for the cheapest, best vaporizing set up in the world. It gets an A+ on both, cheap and best. Just keep in mind you need to use the iClear 30b sideways, you can tip it a little and when the oil is almost gone you can stand it up when needed, you just don't want to keep it that way.

Fast Tech

SVD $37.21, not tax no shipping http://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10004594/1370201

They offer stainless and silver. They are not as nice as what you get with the full kit from High Desert Vapes. If you can afford it, I would recommend the full SVD kit. It is a little nicer in a lot of ways, but most people would not even notice. I am just one of those picky people. I like the one from HDV better. I provided a link to the full kit from HDV on page one. The cost is about $89.

That comes out to be $97.90 before any shipping charges. Two of the three companies do charge shipping, but their fees are reasonable.

In my opinion, the items I provided links to put together the best vaporizing rig possible.

Well, it looks like I am back to testing hardware! :D I just can't help it. I am thinking to get an adapter for my SVD that will accept Persei and other company's attachments. I have seen Persei kits up to $400. I don't think I will be extremely happy with their attachments. Their attachments are meant for vaporizing the oil straight. I think I am going to try it just to see if the SVD can do it. I am quite confident in the SVD, that it will operate their attachments better and more precise.

Check back soon for more information.

fantastic work GrowGoddess.

I was about to start experimenting with the same idea when I came across your blog, and must say there is a lot of useful information presented here, the most complete and progressive I've seen on the topic, so thank you for making the time to do this.

In fact I've gathered most of what I need to have a crack at this already, at least on a modest scale for the first tests.  It was great to read along with the blog and see that most of my acquisitions towards this goal are on the right line! I have a butane extractor waiting for use, a Vamo V5 (similar to SVD) , iClear 30 , Kanger Protank, E-Liquid DIY mixing kit...

Interesting about the Persei stuff, it'll be good to hear your feedback if you try it.

I will do my best to try other products and post about them. One for sure is for a Persei. I just ordered an adapter and I hope it does work. I ordered a KISS cart and I will see if my SVD can work it. LOL I will report back what becomes of it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my work, and for your kind words.

I post as I learn and gain more experience.

I wish you luck on your vaping endeavors. :D

I have been posting at many forums and there was a question posted to me and another member. Here is their question and my response. (I have removed the names as to not offend anyone).

After reading this blog I was curious as to why people are mixing things, or anything for that matter with thier oil before vaping it. I've never vaped & inhaled Glycerin or other commercially produced essential oils and I'm not certain what the gain is in mixing these things with vapable meds. Also, when you have a vaccuum purged wax that is not de-carbed, isn't it then de-carbed the minute it is heated in a vaporizer before being inhaled, essentially turning it into the same as de-carbed oil before it hits your lungs anyway?
BTW, your rigs are pretty cool, I just simply have the 710 mini
You guys have done some serious homework, much appreciated!

Thanks for the complements. Now, let me try to explain. The way I see it, it can be explained in two different manners. Half of my patients care about pain relief and getting a good comfortable buzz to help them cope. The reason why they would prefer the e-cannabis over straight oil is that it is more convenient in many ways, it is easier to consistently get a tasty hit. Taste has a lot of influence on their opinion. Also, with e-cannabis and the iClear 30b, something that they fully appreciate is you can continuously take hits that are consistent, right at the sweet spot, perfect, flawless, and non stop keep hitting it without any burnt taste.

Here is my reason. My reason is in the medicinal end of things. With e-cannabis you can evenly vaporize all of the oil put into the unit, average 2 grams, without any heat differences, a perfect steady heat. The Propylene Glycol USP (PG USP) medical food grade, is what makes this possible. It also lowers the vaporizing temperature. Medicinally speaking, lowering the vaping temperature and keeping the temperature more consistent, improves the medicinal properties of all of the CBDs from the heating process.

I am not in to vaping glycerine with my mj. The only reason I use PG USP is because of what I said above.

I am still using the KISS cart. I can say it is the best cart that I have used so far for straight oil. I am sure that the new unit they just released is better yet. I really like the KISS. I hope it lasts to where it is worth it. I am going to continue using it so I can get a full opinion of it. I must say, that I am craving my iClear 30b. That is almost like inhaling a gas from the dentist office.

I am really impressed that the KISS cart has not leaked and I filled it to the rim, but it is just not as perfect or consistent as the e-cannabis is capable of. I truly believe the reason why the KISS cart is available to hook up to a bubbling system (e-cannabis oil) is because that is a better option. Still first impression. I have no regrets purchasing it.

Here are all my pictures. As you can see, you can't go wrong with the products I have recommended. At least referring to the SVD and the eGo C Twist battery. These items are capable of operating many products, e-cannabis or straight oil. Far better than the actual manufacturer of these accessories in many cases. In this case, I purchased a KISS cart that is meant for a 3.7 volt Persei. I also bought an adapter to convert my 510 threads to 601 threads so the SVD would accept the Persei cart. It worked really well. I am still using it. I do prefer e-cannabis, but I am still testing.

The K I S S http://www.w9tech.com/the-k-i-s-s/

As far as I know, you can operate all of the 3.7 volt Persei accessories with the adapter on a SVD or eGo C Twist. I believe you can operate the accessories better with a true variable voltage / variable wattage MOD or even the variable voltage pen batteries like the eGo C Twist 650.

I chose to set my SVD volts to 3 and my watts to 3 when I first tested the KISS cart. These are the lowest settings available on the SVD and it preformed the best at the lowest settings in the beginning. I have made slight increases in the volts and watts now that I have consumed about 1/2 gram of oil with the KISS.

I would like to thank the crew at 3MG for showing my the Persei products. Here is a link to the discussion. http://www.michiganmedicalmarijuanagrowers.net/index.php?/topic/3251-electronic-cannabis-oil/page__fromsearch__1

Stay tuned, there is more to come.

After further trials with the $37 SVD from Hong Kong I have found that when using lower voltage and wattage it is not nearly as accurate as the SVD from High Desert Vapes with the complete kit. It appears that the electronics are not as high quality. I don't recommend going the cheap route because you get what you pay for. I strongly recommend to purchase the complete SVD kit from High Desert Vapes for $89. It is more than cosmetic differences, the overall quality is better.

It sure is a complain to learn things the hard way, but that is the difference between knowledge and wisdom.

good to know.  I guesse like most things the Chinese factories are very good at making same same products, their staff move around every other week and before you know it everyone is building something that looks the same and mostly works the same. always worth going to a reputable local company, as they have probably located the good suppliers before putting their rep on the line selling it to folks and dealing with the returns!

I was going to do more testing with the KISS cart and others, I may yet still, but these mj vaporizers excluding the Eclipse Vape where you need to use a torch, they don't seem to vaporize that well to me. It seems more like half smoking half vaporizing.

The iClear 30 for the SVD, I consider to be the best vaporizing rig there is. You can literally taste the individual strains as long as the oil is top notch.

As for the iClear 30b, in my opinion, that exceeds vaporizing. That produces more of a gaseous form. It reminds me of nitrous oxide from the dentist.

The iClear 30 and iClear 30b are my favorite for vaporizing e-cannabis oil.

The best I have seen for vaporizing the oil straight is the Eclipse Vape and I do not prefer it over e-cannabis oil. I would only recommend it for non decarbed oil.

I have discovered that RSO, being very thick, and vapes at higher temps than does the oils persons may be mixing it with to thin it a little in the tanks.

I have recently discovered that one can fuse a small amount of grape seed oil with the RSO before putting it in the tank.  Why Grape Seed oil, well it is very thin, has a high burn temp, and has antioxidents and not much taste.  I'd rather taste the RSO than the flavored oils.  The reason I like the high burn temp oil is that when I vape I'm getting mostly RSO.  When vaping RSO or Wax thinned with some oils from the tobacco stores which generally is not natural and it vaporizes at a lower temp than the RSO or wax....well you get a less RSO or Wax vapor than the oil that was mixed with it....

ciao occclub :)

very interesting and can see your logic there. if I got it right you avoided the PG altogether right?

how does it vape, do you get much vapour?

I have got to something now. did the BHO, purged best as I could, picked it up with isopropanol alcohol 99.9% and dropped it into a vial with some PG

The colour changed to darker which I think is expected with the higher temp iso purge I did. first timer so, just to make sure its all gone. its just a small amount to figure the process a little while I amass some more material to work with. it went through a 0.2micron filter couple times also along the way.

yet to try it, its been looking like this for about 3 days, cant see a separation yet.

It will eventually separate. Then again, pretty much any mixture of anything will eventually separate. It is just a matter of time.

Looks real good there grassmatch.

I am assuming that is BHO mixed with PG USP? How has your experience been? Feel free to share.

I have tried all kinds of other products that does not require mixing or thinning. I have not found any yet that I could even consider medicinal except for maybe the Eclipse with a non decarbed oil. However, the eclipse is a two handed deal and is a pain in the donkey. Also, it offers no stealth what so ever.

Either way, it looks good grassmatch

Well, I have broken down once again. I can't really afford it, but my blog has received a lot more views than I ever expected. So that is a good enough excuse for me to make yet another investment. This may not go as fast as the others, I want to be cautious because this step can get quite expensive and it is very unique. I just ordered a mechanical vape. I am considering expensive accessories for it. First I want to get the vape and see how it works with the products I have on hand.

I will report back as soon as I can.

I think you might have it wrong. RSO vapes at low temperatures. It is the most delicate oil I have ever vaped. QWISO and other non decarbed oils are much more forgiving. You can apply more heat without burning the product. Scientifically, I am not sure why. There must be significant changes to the properties after being decarbed. There is also a big difference in the taste decarbed vs. non decarbed. It really boils down to personal preference. The biggest difference is the buzz or medicinal effects, I really don't know. What I do know is non decarbed oil has a more fast intense effect, like smoking a joint. Decarbed oils (RSO) comes on slower and gives more of a relaxing full body effect, it is just different. Now that is comparing the same strain used to make decarbed and non decarbed oil. Still, it is personal preference. I still cannot decide which I like better, decarbed or non decarbed, I like them both I guess, it just depends on my mood. I will say that it is easier for me to consume larger quantities of the decarbed oil and that does not mean it is weaker, just different.

All opinions are welcome here. Also, experience. We don't have to agree. It is all beneficial to the blog and others learning. My experience may be very different to others. There are so many variables to be considered. How the oil was made, what tools are being used to vaporize, the strains used to make the oil, decarbed (RSO), non decarbed (QWISO or BHO), etc.

My results may be much different than others. I go to great lengths to make my oil as clean and pure as possible. Much like the picture grassmatch showed. When I vaped oil that looked like that in my iClear 30b, that took it to a whole new level, gaseous.

it'd be interesting to see the results with the mechanical mod. was not aware those things existed. im an electronics engineer, so did make me wonder what the advantage of going raw would be, over something like the SVD where you have control. don't have to deal with altering battery voltage or coil state to deliver a consistent power...

googling around I also located something interesting, i think designed exactly with mechanical mods in mind ; www.evolvapor.com/shop.php

id be careful with lithium batteries - they store a huge amount of charge and the big thing is that they can dump it very quickly, high amps. whats happening here is we are shorting the battery across a very small resistance, causing it to heat.  as we all know shorting batteries esp lithiums is not so good and explosions can result!! so be careful or put in a failsafe, the evolvapor stuff seemed to do exactly that, with a range of power outputs.

seems like a good idea though, from what I gather you can construct something that will wick very well and a coil to suit your purpose well.

definitely interested to see what you get up to with it :)

Yes, you are surely right about the batteries. Even charging them can be dangerous. For some reason the AW batteries has a great reputation with their batteries and so far I have not heard of any incidents with them. Keeping my fingers crossed on that too! Better yet, AW also offers protected batteries where the risk of explosion is eliminated under normal circumstances. They are larger and are called flat top batteries. In the picture I posted with the batteries, the black one is the protected one.

Man I sure could use some help from someone that knows their electronics. I have a little experience, but not enough. I have contacted a couple of companies, but they are on "holiday". I have ideas for the best vaporizer in the world. Best mechanical, best digital, best e-cigg, and best cannabis. Best all purpose, all in one. I just need to be able to put it together. I know what I want, just don't know how to do it. I do know it can be done.

Edit: there is a device similar that is meant for adjusting the power levels (volts, watts) for some mechanical vapes. It is called The Kick. I would choose The Kick II after reading the reviews and seeing the specs. There are other options and possibilities for adjusting mechanical vapes.

You are right, I am going the whole 9 yards with the mechanical vape. I am going to build my own coils. I just ordered two different gauge wire, a dual coil rebuildable tank. Also, I am going to try out metal mesh wick vs. silica wick. This will be my first time messing around with this stuff. Hopefully I do as well as the first time I rolled a cross joint! LOL I had full success and enjoyed it very much.

Now I don't smoke anymore, but when I saw this video shoot across my facebook news feed https://www.facebook.com/growgoddess.michigan
