My Experience With Portable Vaporizers For Concentrated Cannabis Oil And E-Cigarette Oil

My journey with pen vaporizers began with quitting smoking cigarettes. 30 years of smoking cigarettes, it was well time to quit.

Since the software update on this website, many of the images in this blog entry have been lost. You can view the complete content of this blog and more here: http://cchub.org/Blogs/blogs.html

I started off with purchasing a Dream Vapor Electronic Cigarette kit for $25.99. It took me about a week before I could fully stop the cigarettes and only use the e-cigarette. The first couple of weeks I noticed that my lungs were clearing up and I could breathe better. That is when I realized that I just had to make concentrated cannabis oil work in one of these refillable tank style e-cigarettes.

WARNING: The information and links I have posted throughout this blog were as I was learning. My opinion in some of the things has changed. Like the $37 SVD, it is low quality and not the real deal. I recommend the $89 kit through High Desert Vapes. The Dream Vapor, I no longer recommend that product. The C4 Clearomizer, I do not recommend that for cannabis oil, but it is acceptable for e-cigarette oils. For e-cigarettes, or any pen battery use, I recommend the eGo C Twist variable voltage batteries only, preferably the 650mAh. As you get to the end of the blog, you will see that I have gained more experience. I have tried the concentrate straight, e-cannabis oil, and I have found preferred products. In other words, read the blog to the end before making a product decision.

After some failures in testing different mixtures, I found what seems to work best. It seems that Propylene Glycol USP, which is a component used in many of the e-cigarette oils, works best. It is important to be sure to get Propylene Glycol USP. The PG USP is used in medicines and some food and beverage processing. It is also great for using in topical solutions. PG USP helps medicine penetrate skin and tissue which enables the medicine to enter the bloodstream more quickly and easily. PG USP also helps chemicals bond together.

The PG USP reduces the temperature required to vaporize the RSO (Concentrated Cannabis), which makes it possible to evenly vaporize the RSO with the e-cigarettes.

I have compared vaporizing straight RSO vs. RSO with PG USP added. For portable electronic vaporizers, RSO with PG USP seems better to me, I prefer it. It is not only the vaporizing with an e-cigarette, there are other benefits. Such as, being able to hold 1/2 ounce worth of bud, transformed into oil in the vaporizer tank. One fill can keep a patient medicated for weeks. You just cannot beat the convenience. Also, it seems to have a different effect when inhaling. It is almost like taking a draw from a medicine inhaler.

It is easy to mix the PG USP with the RSO. All you need to do is gently warm the RSO in a large spoon or small bowl just until it begins to "melt". Remove from the heat and mix in the PG USP. I have found that a 70% RSO to 30% PG USP works best. However it can vary any where from 10 - 50% PG USP, also personal preference fits into the equation. After the RSO and PG USP are mixed well, suck it up into a syringe. You now have E-Cannabis oil ready to fill an e-cigarette tank and start vaporizing your oil!

Since I have started doing this, I have not even desired to smoke a joint. I think in the last 3-4 weeks I have smoked maybe one.

lol yes, I did google  "grassmatch" imagining some other hole in my knowledge, then realised its the name of another member....
Easily done with tired eyes, no offense taken :)

many standardised battery assemblies include a protection circuit within the battery.  if the option is there we'd prefer with than without for sure!
even that said normally you don't want to fall back on that day in day out, just my cautious approach :)
On the plus side it looks like most of the mods are based around a rock solid looking metal enclosure. its either safer or half way to a pipe bomb I cant decide !!
happy to chip in with any input along the way.  I think the ability to tweak the coils and wicks should be very interesting, though once you know what works well the better electronics could be added... I don't think it will have any detrimental effect, just improve consistency.

something you might enjoy, over a vape, my current project ;

hi GrowGoddess...

can I check something with you.  the stuff I have created, trying to work up to be confident to try it. one thing I tried first was warming up a few drops on a spoon.  as it gets hotter and hotter some small bubbles form and dissipate, around the same point were starting to get lots of vapour off it.  smell is fantastic actually. now am I to worry about those bubbles being the last of butane or iso im not sure.

they were small and I have not manage to make the liquid catch light with a naked flame either, so probably im good.

do your liquids act the same, or no bubble formation at all?

thanks!!

I am thinking you are good. Yes, with my finished iso oil, it will bubble with heat applied. With iso oil and you go to vape it, if it is not purged, you will probably notice it on the inhale. It will most likely gag you.

I would like to add though that I do not have any experience with BHO. Never made it before.

great, thanks for confirming.  im just being careful I guesse. I did spend days purging slowly then whacked up the heat to around 80-90 celcius for a few hours. butane or iso should not have been able to make it through.  Maybe lost some potency but it doesn't really matter right now. I will go for vacuum purge both for butane and iso next time to get it done more surely in shorter time and lower temp. I think the oil will be lighter in colour in that case.

well, i'll give it a shot and report back some good results I hope :)

thanks again for the sanity check!

have you tried PEG400 as an alternative to the PG btw? may make for an interesting test, I've heard some good things but nothing concrete about how well it works in our kind of mixtures, half finished threads here and there... id be tempted to put the two side to side once there is enough oil to work with.

I just looked at the links you posted earlier. Looks like somebody beat me to the time lapse. I have been wanting to do that for quite some time now. I have all of the equipment. I used to be in to broadcasting an IP camera. I have an AXIS 213 PTZ set up. Pan, Tilt, Zoom. I never got around to hooking it up in the growroom. Time lapse is really cool, I really wanted to do that in my flower room.

With QWISO, I would not recommend heat or vacuum purging. I can't say that I have tried it though. Since I have been consuming so much oil, the fact that I am using solvents like iso does give me some concern over long term daily use. What I did to make me feel 100% confident is dilute the oil with 190 proof or higher grain alcohol, then purge it a second time being careful of the heat. I have also used the 190 proof grain alcohol to winterize my iso oil then purge. The grain alcohol works great for winterizing iso oils. It makes it safer in my opinion.

So far, my favorite grain alcohol is 96% Polomos Spirytus Rektyfikowany REctified Spirit, I believe it is a Polish Vodka.

I have only tried this once so I don't have a full opinion, but I do have a first impression. The other day for the first time making my e-cannabis oil, mixing it with PG USP I also added around 5% of the 96% grain alcohol into the mixture. It seemed to work great and I do not taste the alcohol. It may be an improvement, but I am not sure yet. Only time will tell.

thanks, went kind of full on with the timelapse, the grow lighting is sync'd to the camera also, it flips into white lighting mode at each shot. looking nice, will be great to see it start to finish eventually.

iso, yes I am being wary also, hence the brute force method of getting it out, taking it close to its boiling point.

with QWISO, my thoughts were that  the iso is not really avoided..  I mean, iso then purge then grain alcohol then purge, is it much better than BHO then iso? I guesse either has been through a best effort iso purge.

the idea with the vac purge was to manage the fullest purge at a low temperature, same as common in BHO I think would apply also to iso. I have to do a little more reading though.

Link to comment

I think it might be mandatory to vac purge BHO, but I am not really educated enough to know for sure.

With QWISO I don't think it is necessary.

I did read something that concerned me about BHO. A guy said he worked for a company that fills the small butane cans. He said that they have to inject some kind of poisonous gas into the can first before they fill it with butane. He also stated that it does not matter how refined the butane is, the initial injected gas is still in there. I don't know how much truth there is to it, but nobody was challenging his claim. Everybody did agree that the BHO is safe using industrial tanks, 99% pure butane. That can get very expensive.

That is why I have not done BHO. To do it the way I would want to would cost thousands just in the equipment. I am pretty confident that the iso oil (QWISO hash) does not have those issues. Just my take on it from the research I have done.

The RSO and QWISO have been coming out so good for me I felt no need to pursue BHO.

A lot of people like to let their iso hash (QWISO) just sit out and air dry until it is like shatter. So much so that you need a razor blade to scrape it.

I must say though, some of the best oil pics I have seen were BHO.

Link to comment

interesting.  I did start out planning the qwiso route but switched to bho half way. you definitely need be particular which butane cans you use, I ordered them in after reading up, near zero impurities is the best you can get outside lab supplies. still you are right, they are not cheap.

im set up for iso wash as well, so I think I will run both methods side by side with same herbs and see how things compare. bit worried about the honey bee extractor and how safe that thing really is long term, I wouldn't bet on it.  Any more runs, im putting together a jig so I can set it go and retire a very safe distance!

My first mechanical vape mod has arrived. I purchased a Smoktek Magneto Mechanical Mod in brass. At first glance, the unit appears to be heavy duty and high quality. A very simple device to use. This device can accommodate batteries from 18350 up to the 18650 with the telescoping casing. Same batteries as the SVD. The push button is on the bottom. At first it was kind of awkward, but I got used to it.

First, I tried my preferred devices on it, like the iClear 30. The Smoktec worked, but seemed a bit weak compared to the SVD when running the iClear 30. I used the 18490, 3.7 V battery. Just not enough power to run it properly. When I run the iClear 30 on my SVD I set the volts at 4.8.

Next, I tried the UP Tech KISS cart. The Smoktech ran that pretty darn good. Even better than the SVD. Very impressive. I did need to use the 510 - 601 adapter to run the KISS on the smoktech.

It may be worth finding just the right rig that the 3.7 V will operate perfectly to meet your needs, for vaporizing straight concentrates. UP Tech offers a lot of nice accessories that can be ran with 3.7 Volts.

I am very impressed with the Magneto. I just ordered the stainless steel one!

It operates a little different. Going with different batteries, especially larger ones like the 18650, even the protected 2600mAh18650 you do notice a power increase. With these batteries I have been able to operate my preferred e-cigg devices.

It is the same but opposite of the SVD. A couple of fast button pushes can increase the power going to the device. Just something that you need to get used to, it is a little different.

I highly recommend this product at this time.

I like this product so much, and as long as it lasts a long time, I am willing to start building my own coils to get the best out of it.

It has really made me start to enjoy the 3.7 volt Persei devices that are meant for vaping the oil straight.

I have pumped a good 4 grams of straight blueberry jam QWISO hash through the KISS cart so far. A little more combustion to it compared to e-cannabis, but ti is pretty good, especially with the mechanical vape.

I may even begin to like it better than the SVD.

Well, more opinion on the Magneto and vaping the oil straight with UP Tech carts meant for Persei and Omicron. I chose to use the Persei model, 3.7 volt KISS. I just now tried the KISS TI, this one is made with titanium, I believe the titanium is in the coil. The first difference I noticed in the TI KISS compared to the original KISS, besides the $5 difference in price is the ohms. I was going to set the titanium KISS aside for a spare since I like the KISS, but when I saw that there is a 100% difference in the ohms or 50% depending on how you look at it, The Titanium KISS is only 1 ohm, the original KISS is 2 ohm. They both work pretty much the same with the magneto, it doesn't make sense, but it is what it is. I had to try it. I just now did. With the same oil and I am very impressed. When I first loaded it, and I mean loaded with RSO, with good feathering of the power button, it basically offered a gaseous form like the e-cannabis did, not as convenient, but very impressive. I really like this rig. I like it twice as good on the mechanical Magneto vape. When it comes to the UP Tech KISS products, I would take the mechanical vape over the SVD any day.

The SVD is a must for me since it reads the ohms and I know that it has circuitry protection, it offers me a lot of information (the $37 SVD from Fast Tech does not offer these benefits). The SVD has been helping me in building my own coils for a custom unit. The unit is a clone of the Kraken. These units can cost up to $200. I really want to get into building my own coils. I have a lot of time into it with failure and success. It is going to take longer than what I thought to get it mastered. One of the reasons it is difficult for me is I want to master it for cannabis use and I want to master it with a basic 3.7 V battery. That is not going to be easy. Choosing to go with a high powered battery would make it a lot easier in making the coils sub ohm, but I am looking for what is best for cannabis use and that is 1 ohm and above. I am looking at 2 - 3 ohms and it is not easy to get the 3.7V mechanical vapes to work with. At least not dual coil. I must say, the rig I have been working with, in one of the pictures I will show, next to the KISS, I have been using e-cigarette oil to test my coils. I must say, for it being thick heavy steel it is the first unit made of such and my e-cigarette oil tasted extra good. Normally my e-cigarette oil does not taste good in metal, but the cannabis does.

Either way, I am going to keep hacking away at making my own coils and will post about it in the future.

I highly recommend the Smoktech Magneto, available salt & pepper (Brass & Stainless Steel). I highly recommend the UP Tech KISS cart, especially the new Titanium one, I can't yet verify how it will last since today is the first time I used it. I will say it is pretty good. The KISS is not nearly as good with a digital type vaporizer. It is like it was meant for a mechanical 3.7V vape that used 18350 - 18650 batteries. Me personally, if it were not for the mechanical vape, I would not have continued to discuss the KISS like I have. It is like the KISS and a mechanical vape go together. Even my e-cigarettes taste better and is far more potent with the mechanical vape. Why I do not know. I still say the SDV kit from High Desert Vapes is the all around best. My favorite vape to use is the Smoktech Magneto, also from High Desert Vapes. I like the brass and stainless. I will probably get a couple more. My third vape I put on my favorite list is the simple eGo C Twist VV 650 mAh, especially for stealth.

Here are some pictures.

The brass and stainless Magento side by side. Both in the camo padded eGo case from HDV.

You can see on the left the Kraken clone. I still have a way to go on building my own coils to accommodate cannabis. I will discuss that more at a later date. For e-cigarettes, it has proven to be very good and super tasty. I was very surprised.

The Magnetos side by side each with a KISS cart. One with a small 18350 battery the other with a 18650 protected 2600mAh battery, this is the largest battery the Magneto will accept. This vape is the whoop. When attached to a KISS cart, with the 510 - 601 adapter, which I recommend an adapter anyway to protect your vaporizer from potential leakage, at least with cannabis oil. It is the best I have seen.

KISS cart filled to the rim, with a magneto mechanical vape. When I go to hit it, it seems plugged, that is a good thing. I just keep tapping the power button, like 4 times, then slowly hold it down, once it brakes free without sucking too hard, you get the ultimate vapor hit. So far I have been filling it to the top. I like it best that way. You get the plugged effect a lot, but I kind of like that. I think I have ran about 5 grams of pure concentrate so far in the KISS

Hey,

Newbie here, help please, I'm looking to get a vaporizer. I found this site smokazon.com,  any thought/s about their pretty cool gadgets?

Thank you!

I am only going to comment in regards to portable vaporizers for concentrates.

The magic flight launch box and the volcano, well, I am not going to comment on those, I am not in to vaporizing buds and really have no opinion of them.

When I look at the Divinci and the cost of $200, I just cannot fathom where the cost of that unit can be justified. I can't even picture it being any better than using the items I will mention below. I highly doubt it is as good as a basic VV pen with a KISS cart. Also, I have not tried the Atmos or Cloud, the cost baffles me.

I can however vouch for the Eclipse Vape for non-decarbed oils and waxes, etc. It is a fair price. Mine came in a very nice padded case too. I got mine direct from the manufacturer for about the same price. The Eclipse is really cool. It works, but I would take the Magneto with a KISS cart over that any day.

The store you mention is your typical average mj products supplier. Most of the normal mj products are a straight up rip off in my opinion. At least in most situations. They don't appear to offer any products that would accommodate e-cannabis. Their G-Pen kit, well I wouldn't pay $5 for it.

Really, it depends on what you want to vaporize. If you are looking to vape buds, then the volcano would be what you want to use. If you are looking to vaporize concentrates, and you don't want to mess around with making e-cannabis oil, even though it is easy, I would recommend the following items:

Smoktech Magneto mechanical vape, a TrustFire model TR-001 battery charger, AW 18350 battery, AW 18650 protected 2600mAh battery, a 510 to 601 adapter (High Desert Vapes),and an UP Tech KISS cart 3.7 V for Persei (w(Tech). There is also a titanium KISS cart which offers a slower more mellow vape. The regular KISS cart is a 2 ohm unit which offers more heat if you desire to where you could even burn hash if you wanted. You could use it like a nail if you want or feather the button and get nice vapor hits. A nice padded eGo case from High Desert Vapes would be perfect to hold these items. For all of these items I just mentioned you are looking at an approximate cost of $130. You would then have a quality rig in your hands or in your nice eGo camo padded case. Throw in a itazte SVD by innoken kit for $89 from High Desert Vapes and you would have a superior set up for less than $250. I recommend the whole lot for a great variety of vaporizing. The SVD can do things the Magneto cannot and the Magneto can do things the SVD cannot. Each use the same batteries so that is a bonus. You could even throw in an eGo C Twist VV battery and still keep the cost under $250. Three completely different vape set ups that are interchangeable. With a simple adapter, you can operate different companies attachments better than the units they are intended for.

These units together can offer vaporizing hash, e-cannabis oil, shatter, wax, RSO, QWISO, etc. Top quality, you really get what you pay for. There are Persei kits that don't even come close to comparing that can cost $450 or more.

Really, I can't speak for the store. One of the main reasons I brag up High Desert Vapes is they purchase directly from the manufacturers. I know I am getting the real deal when I purchase from them.

For buds or table top vaporizers, the store you found might be a better alternative. I prefer to vape concentrates and infused e-cannabis oil over vaping buds.

For a cheap trial before investing a lot of money just a simple eGo C Twist 650 mAh for around $20 with a $5 usb battery charger is probably better than any pen vape that they offer since the eGo C Twist is Variable Voltage. That is only $25. You would need a $4 510 to 601 adapter (High Desert Vapes) and the UP Tech KISS cart for $20 (w9Tech). So for around $50 you would have a simple rig that blows the doors off a G-Pen. Heck, with the battery offering variable voltage, it is far better than any $450 Persei rig in my opinion.

Everybody has their own opinion and preference. I am just offering mine.

Throughout my blog I offer links to the products mentioned above and where to buy them.

Link to comment

Here is another example of the mj companies selling their low grade products for high price.

For example the Essential and Essential Mini. I can purchase the mini attachment for less than $10 US and it will thread directly into any of the vapes I have spoken of that I recommend. Such as the eGo C Twist 650 mAh VV battery that cost only $20. Now that is $30 for the battery and attachment. With the eGo C Twist battery you can operate the Essential or Essential Mini attachments far better than their batteries can. Yet, they want more $$ for their batteries. The non-adjustable pen batteries are junk in my opinion, and that is what they offer.

The attachment is low quality, but does work well.

Well I have ran a couple of grams through the new titanium KISS, 3.7 volt for persei, with my Smoktech Magneto. I had to use the larger 18650 battery. I don't know how they managed it, but it is the first vaping device I have seen for straight oil that I would have to give it a thumbs up on the medicinal use of it. The titanium KISS is the best vaporizing device for straight concentrates that I have used so far. The original KISS, for $20, it is a really nice device. You can use all of the different size batteries with it, but it seems more recreational to me. Some people may prefer that because they can run it at a higher heat and get more of a vape burn or have the option to burn the material, but I am focused on the medicinal value/use of vaporizing. With the new titanium KISS with the Magneto and the 18650 battery is much different action, much less feathering of the power button. You can hold the button down more while taking a hit. You get a slower hit, like in slow motion. You have to hold the button down longer to get a full hit. It would be easier for somebody with lung issues. Very easy and mellow hits. Medicinally speaking, I like that fact. It doesn't easily burn the oil. You receive a more steady vape hit. I would almost have to say it is a gaseous hit similar to the e-cannabis using the iClear 30b clearomizer. Using the titanium KISS with the Magneto, I would also recommend having an eGo C Twist 650 mAh VV around so you can conveniently turn up the heat a little. The eGo C Twist VV only cost around $20. The titanium KISS works well on the eGo battery.

Vaping straight oil with the titanium KISS is a great alternative to vaping e-cannabis. This is the very first product for vaping straight oil that I have tried where I can say that. With good clean oil, it provides a very potent buzz, is very easy to use, and very easy on the lungs. Keep in mind, this is with good clean oil. I have mostly sampled RSO through it. It doesn't offer much taste, but it does offer a good gaseous effect. Now with QWISO I would suspect it to be more tasty, but I do not know yet. For some reason, RSO (decarbed concentrated cannabis oil) is more difficult to vape and get good taste where you can actually taste the strains used to make the oil. It must have something to do with the fact of the flavanoids being altered through the process of decarbing the oil. For some reason, when you convert the RSO to e-cannabis oil, this is not an issue. I can literally taste the strains I used to produce the oil as long I am using the right vaping devices.

The titanium KISS works great with the Magneto and a 18650 battery. It also works great with the SVD and VV pen vape, most any variable voltage vape.

I recommend this product. I get the KISS for the Persei 3.7V in chrome. http://www.w9tech.com/titanium-gr2-kiss-cartridge/

I recommend when using a digital vape to keep the power set low. With the titanium KISS, I like to get nice, slow, potent, comfortable hits. Basically, where I can get baked without coughing my brains out. You get accustomed to it and you got everything set right and use good clean oil, you can get baked all you want without coughing at all. I don't even exhale much visible vapor, and I prefer it that way.

I really like the titanium KISS on the mechanical rig. They just go together real nice. It is convenient just putting a dab on, like two or three rice grains. It will last a while, I may refill it once or twice depending on how my day is going.

I really like e-cannabis oil too. I get just as baked. I may have to take a few extra hits, but it is nice that you don't have to mess with refilling as often. In some cases once a week I refill my iClear 30 which can hold a couple grams of e-cannabis oil that is at least one gram of straight oil mixed with PG USP. It is great that with the e-cannabis oil that I get to enjoy the flavor of my RSO. Comparing the two it is a matter of personal preference or in my case, what mood I am in.

I have been getting High Times Magazine for quite some time now. I can see that the vapor pen market has exploded! It must be very confusing to the newcomer to make a purchase. Heck, anything to do with concentrates has exploded! In regards to the vapor pens, I can't say that I have even seen one in the magazine that I would consider purchasing. Most brag up that they are the best and whatnot. Well, there are basically three types being advertised. Some that have pictures with oil in them that use an automizer. Those are pretty much e-ciggs. Straight oil is not going to work in those at all. They are meant for the fake wannabe oils (legal oils with no THC). Then you have the vaporizers that are like the KISS, basically a bowl with a heating coil going across the middle. They are probably junk. Up Tech has been making the KISS cart for a while now and they pretty much have that mastered with their new titanium rig. Then the third style vaporizer, is just a straight up rip off! It is just a simple 510 e-cigarette battery without any option to adjust the voltage, in other words, you can't adjust the heat. Some offer multiple set ups, like for vaping bud and such. I have not heard anything good about vaping buds with an electronic vape yet. With one small exception, I have heard the Hercules, another product from UP Tech made for the Persei, works pretty good for vaping buds and it looks very unique too. The Hercules cost $100 though. That is just the attachment. You probably get what you pay for when it comes to vaping buds. I don't plan to test it though, I am not in to vaping bud. Keep in mind with these new vaporizing companies that are advertising in High Times and all over the net, I don't think any of them have any experience whatsoever. They are all cheap knock offs. What background do they have? Do they even have real oil to test in them? I don't think that they do.

I think for vaping the oil straight the KISS cart is as good as it is going to get for now, especially the titanium KISS. All you need is the 510-601 adapter and you can attach your KISS cart to most very high quality e-cigarette equipment that has had years of testing and experience.

Again, still, my three favorite (best) vaporizers are the SVD from High Desert Vapes, the Smoktech Magneto from High Desert Vapes, and the eGo C Twist 650 mAh VV also from High Desert Vapes. The reason I purchase these from High Desert Vapes is because they are the real deal, a very reputable company who only orders their product straight from the manufacturer so there are no knock offs. When it comes to your vaporizer, you don't want a knock off if you are truly serious about vaping. In some very rare cases, mostly with very cheap stuff, the knock offs can be better. For instance, a cheap heating coil for an e-cigarette or a cheap clearomizer meant for an e-cigg. Another example would be, a cheap clearomizer knock off that I prefer works great with my e-cigg oil that I use. The original manufacturer has a design that is more tolerant to a larger spectrum of oils, they use better plastic that won't crack with certain flavored e-cigg oils. Stuff like that. Again, very rare.

My re buildable coil unit, the AGA-TD which is a Genesis clone has been put on the back burner. Had to order some thinner gauge wire for the coils. I need a break from messing around building coils anyway. It is a very tedious job.

Back to e-cannabis. I can't wait! It may be the best rig yet. Kanger just came out with a new tank, the Aerotank. It accepts the ProTank 3 bottom fed coils, which is cool since I already have a ProTank 3 and replacement coils for it. There are some pros and cons with this. Supposedly the new unit will not leak because it draws the air from the top. The airflow is adjustable too, which should make all the difference. One of my biggest complaints with the ProTank3, besides the leaking, was it drew in too much air which I believe contributed to the high throat burn. Another cool thing, it looks a lot like one of those $200 Ithaca completely rebuildable units. I was hoping that somebody would come out with a prefabricated, replaceable dual coil bottom fed tank with adjustable airflow. The only bad thing I have heard about this unit is the 510 drip tip is not the same size as the typical drip tips and the one it comes with is a little loose. It is a 510, but not many 510 tips fit in it correctly, according to the product review. Really that should not be much of an issue for us e-cannabis users. I could just goop the tip up with a little oil and it will stick in just fine. Either way, I just ordered it from High Desert Vapes and can't wait to try it out. https://highdesertvapes.com/products/Kanger-Aerotank-Kit.html

I will be reporting back as soon as I get my hands on it. Hopefully this will be the best of them all.

While I am waiting for my new Aerotank to arrive, I will cast my final judgement on the KISS cart for Persei 3.7V.

I will probably discuss the longevity in the future.

Moving on, keep in mind this is my personal preference and opinion. Used with the oil that I make.

As you can see in the picture below, there are three new adapters in the baggie. At least two of those adapters will be for the original KISS for my personal back up. The original KISS may be more recreational, but it sure does work well with my mechanical vape. I really enjoy using the mechanical vape. As you get more comfortable using the mechanical vape, quickly feather the button, with all batteries, a little faster with the larger batteries, it does offer a high quality medicinal effect, just a little more art to it. I only recommend the KISS cart to be used with a mechanical vape.

I will be ordering a couple more original KISS carts for the Persei 3.7V for back up. Dedicated to be used only with my mechanical vapes.

As for APV, Variable Voltage, MOD vaporizers, etc. People will probably prefer the Titanium KISS because you have more options with adjusting the voltage (turn the heat up). It is nice and all, but I prefer to use e-cannabis oil with a clearomizer with the variable voltage MODs.

Can't wait for the Aerotank to arrive! Have oil ready and waiting for it!!

Just received the Kanger Tech Aero Tank today.

Since I have only used it for a few hours, I will just give a quick first impression overview of it.

So far it could be the best. It will take some time to know for sure.

It does have the same type of glass as the ProTank3. It also has the same heating coil as the ProTank3. However, the Aero Tank seems to have a better design for holding the heating coil to where there is practically no waste. The oil kind of funnels down to a small bowl that has dual heating coils.

At this time I am liking it better than the ProTank3. The Aero Tank offers the same taste as with most glass, you can really notice sweet flavors. Still get a little throat burn, but not nearly as bad as with the ProTank3. Even with the air control all the way open, the Aero Tank still does not draw as much air as the PT3. I really like how you can even close the air holes off. It appears that the oil cannot leak down to the battery. it does appear that there is a possibility that it could leak, pretty much the first area would be right at the air holes which are located under the oil level of the tank on the sides. There is an outer ring that threads up and down to cover or uncover the air holes.

Now, it was mentioned on the product description that there could be an issue with the 510 drip tip. Yes, a lot of my other 510 drip tips will not fit on the Aero Tank. In most cases it is due to the gasket being too thick. The ProTank3 510 drip tip fits perfect on the Aero Tank, nice and tight. It even seems that the hits with the PT3 drip tip may be a little smoother. It is a little thicker metal with a smaller hole. It does not look as nice as the original tip for the Aero Tank, but it does look nice.

Now keep in mind I am referring to using this with e-cannabis oil. If it all works out, I may start using it with e-cigarettes too.

The drip tip that comes on the Aero Tank is a little loose like in the product description says it is. That is not a problem for us concentrate users. Just simply goop a little concentrate around the tip on the gasket as well as where the tip fits into the unit. It keeps it air tight until it starts to dry, which will take a week or two. Either way, it is air tight.

The Aero Tank tip is a little thinner metal compared to the ProTank3 tip. It causes a little more burn. Then again, I really don't have it broken in yet so I don't have enough information to justify a complaint about it.

Assuming the Aero Tank does not have a leaking problem, and it keeps on working the way it is, this may just be what I was looking for. It seems to work well with the mechanical vape too. Not all of my accessories do.

I will report back after doing some more testing. As much testing as humanly possible! :D

The Kanger ProTank3 and Aero Tank each offer a beauty ring that attaches to outer eGo threads. You can attach it to a pen battery or other device and it makes the transition from the battery to the device look pretty.

I give Kanger a thumbs up for offering that.

It is early and all, but a bit more feedback on the Magneto, Original KISS, and the AeroTank.

So far I am really enjoying these. I have been working hard at it too!! LOL Starting right with the morning coffee :) It is hard to get past the I want to go lay on the couch and watch a movie thing, but hey, it's a job right! LOL

Seriously now. It is like salt and pepper with these two attachments, both good, so far.

These two carts, whether it is the KISS with straight oil or the AeroTank with e-cannabis oil, are the whoop. Especially since I can use the Magneto with both. Whether it is with the 18350 battery or the larger 18650 battery, that is important to me. Not all of my carts will operate on the Magneto with the batteries I have, not enough power. I am sure with the right battery, I can get all the power I need. Just have to do some research.

For now, the KISS and the AeroTank are great with the batteries I do have.

So far with the AeroTank, it is a bit early to cast good judgement, it is working perfectly. It made me really happy to see it work well with a freshly charged 18350 battery.

Now this is not against the AeroTank, at least at this point I can't say so. With the replaceable coils, many times I will get a bad coil here and there. Sometimes even twice in a row. When I was using the AeroTank, I had my first bottom coil unit go bad. First time I experienced that with a mechanical vape. There is no circuitry protection in those. Also, I was using an unprotected battery. Anyway, one of the coils was still working so I could get a hit, but it tasted a bit funky. I also noticed that the battery compartment was getting warm. Not good, but I was not surprised, it has happened in the past. I did knock it over a couple times by accident, so that could have been the cause of the failure. Either way, the replacement coils only cost about $3 each. With this unit, the good news is, after removing it from the vape, I can turn it upside down and let all the oil drain down. After a few minutes and all of the oil has drained down, I unscrewed the bottom like I was going to refill it, but replaced the coil. This is the first time I can say that I only lost a drop or two of oil! When it comes to replacing a coil with the AeroTank, you don't really lose any oil. As long as this issue does not become frequent, this is really good news.

So far, these are the two vapes that are my favorite to use. Until I see either becoming a problem, they are the two I enjoy using the most.

With the cost of the AeroTank being $25 and the cost of the original KISS being $20, they are both worth it.

For those who have had problems with their pen batteries making contact with some accessories you know what a problem it can be to get the battery pin pulled up to make contact. The contact pin in most pen batteries and APV's is just floating in a rubber gasket or boot with wires soldered to it. If it gets pushed down too far from an accessory, it might not make contact with a different accessory. A few times now, more so with my pen vapes, I go around the contact pin with a pointy screw or thick toothpick and keep working my way around pulling upwards. Pull it up just a bit higher than normal and thread a good accessory. That should reset the pin perfectly in place.

A nice feature of the magneto is that the pin can be adjusted with a standard screwdriver! It basically telescopes up and down to accommodate any 510 thread accessory or adapter. I had to adjust mine down just a bit for my new Kangertech AeroTank and it sits perfectly flush on my magneto. I really like this feature.

The AeroTank also works well on the SVD. I am really liking it with the SVD kit I ordered from High Desert Vapes. At the very least I like it just as much as I like the mechanical rig. This is an example why I like all three units. Especially with the 18350 batteries.

With the AeroTank, so far I have put about 2 grams of e-cannabis through it. No leaking, nothing I can complain about.

I noticed earlier today that innokin has come out with a new tank. It looks like they are trying to compete with Kangertech and the AeroTank. I really like innokin products and would be happy to try the new iClear X.I Pyrex Glass Dual Coil Clearomizer, but it looks like they did not change the design enough from the iClear 30b to where it appears that the new unit will have the same leaking issue as the 30b. The 30b didn't leak too bad, but I did have to be sure to lay it down sideways, which was kind of annoying. It does deliver some of the best hits I have ever had. The iClear X.I appears to draw the airflow from the bottom just like the iClear 30b as well as the Kangertech ProTank3.

With Kangertech's new AeroTank, they did change the design from the ProTank3. The ProTank3 has a leaking issue and the new AeroTank does not. I believe this is due to where the airflow draw is from. The ProTank3 draws from the bottom right at the battery compartment, the AeroTank air is drawn from the side on the outside of the unit. I prefer it that way. I really don't want the air drawn right from the area where the battery is. It is nice to see these changes.

If for some reason I do find out that the iClear X.I does actually draw from outside of the tank and not the bottom, I would be happy to try one.

I have to say withe the Kangertech Aero Tank, I can't say it is the best tasting and all, but it is the overall best rig I have tried so far. Especially when you add into the equation what works. Glass can make it a little harsher and can prevent you from being able to taste your strains. I do respect the fact that they do use glass, I consider that more medicinal. It is really nice looking with the stainless steel. Drawing the air from the outside and having it be fully controllable, I am a happy camper.

Well, I have had to refill the AeroTank and mix some oil to do so.

I have learned with these bottom fed units that it is best to keep the oil nice and thick, like honey, at least with the AeroTank it is. I am probably only using 20% PG USP, maybe 3-5% 192 proof polish vodka, and the rest RSO. It seems like the thicker mixture has been more enjoyable. It works really good with a SVD too.

The thicker oil in the AeroTank seems to have made an overall improvement. Since it is a bottom fed unit, it can handle the oil being a bit thicker. It is a lot more tasty and more potent too. It also produces a bit of a thicker vapor. It even makes the mouthpiece or drip tip a bit sticky. I am really enjoying the thicker oil with the AeroTank and Magento.

To be honest, so far with the AeroTank and Magneto, to me it seems like a hospital/medical quality tool. Especially when you have some premium oil.

So far, no leaks and I have been keeping it in the upright position too. This is great, exactly what I have been looking for to vaporize concentrates.

I ordered these different colored glass replacement tanks for the AeroTank. They will also work for the ProTank2 and ProTank3. I swapped the OEM clear tank with the blue replacement tank.

I am really liking the AeroTank, best yet, no leaks! I have used 5 grams so far and am working on the sixth. Since it is glass and stainless steel you have to be careful when taking a hit. You would be surprised how potent one hit can be. It just takes a little time to get used to it.

I am really impressed with the AeroTank. So far, it looks to be the best.

Here is the perfect vaporizing kit! Everything you need for your vaporizing pleasures.

First CAUTION when using protected batteries in mechanical vapes. My freshly charged protected battery worked great. I put it in to see if it would work, since some vapes won't accept flat top batteries, I wanted to see if mine would. It did just fine. Later though, I put the battery back in and even though it was fully charged, it was getting weaker and weaker to where I don't recommend the AW IMR 18650 2600 mah protected battery for mechanical vapes. I put the battery back into my SVD and it worked great.

With a mechanical vape, the battery can mean everything. It has been very frustrating retrieving specs on batteries. There is so much false information out there it is ridiculous. What I am looking for is a battery that provides a little more power for the mechanical. I am looking for a high continuous amp release. I can't even find the actual manufacturer specs on the batteries I do have. They are either 5 or 10 amp. Some people even report different.

18350, 18400, and 18650 batteries, standard, are pretty much the same in my mechanical vape. There are not too many options out there with the small 18350 batteries. I like those the best because it keeps my vaporizer most concealable.

For now I will be trying out an 18650 batteries of different brands that supposedly has a higher amp release. I just ordered a couple. I will be reporting back on how they work compared to the batteries I have been using. Just looking to get a bit more power to my mechanical vapes.

I just received a couple more AeroTanks. One is dedicated for e-cigarettes. I have to say with this new AeroTank and e-cigarettes, it is really smooth and the taste is much different. I was expecting it to be a little more harsh because of the glass, but it was not. The glass has no harsh effect with the e-cigarettes like it does with e-cannabis. The AeroTank is much less harsh than the ProTank3 is with e-cannabis. Whether it is e-cannabis oil or e-cigarette oil  I do recommend the AeroTank. Especially since it pulls the air from the sides rather than from at the battery.

Well, so far the AeroTank seems to be the best. I can even vape the oil straight through it with a little bit of grain alcohol in it from winterizing. This oil is like a thick tar in consistency.

Whether it is vaping the oil straight or oil mixed with PG USP, the AeroTank is the whoop.

Of course the SVD and AeroTank go together great.

Now, what about the Smoktech Magneto? There is an answer to that.  A standard AW battery is capable of operating the Magneto with e-cigg oil, but barely. The EH IMR 18650, 30 amp, 1600mAh, flat top battery is like double the power. After having used this battery, I must say that I do recommend it. Here is one source for this battery and it is reasonably priced too http://www.madvapes.com/eh-imr-18650-30amp-1600mah-flat-top.html

When it comes to a mechanical vape, the capabilities of the battery can mean everything. It is not as important with an electronic digital vape though.

So far my favorite rigs are the SVD for digital and Magneto for mechanical, each with the KangerTech AeroTank. Those are the best that I have tested yet with my oils and methods.

It must be considered though that each persons oils are different and what works for one, may not work well for another.

Here is a picture after testing with the oil pretty much straight, just  a very little bit of grain alcohol left in it. That tip is VERY sticky!!

Here is a picture of the battery that makes the difference in operating dual coils and sub ohm coils too. I also recommend this battery for use with the AeroTank and e-cigg oils. It makes a big difference.
