Thanks Smoke Blunts I think when you find a location that isn't going to have issues with it then you are going to see 5-6 there no matter what city you're in! +RevThad
I know for a fact you will not, and may never find one in Midland... hell we barely got the vote over 52% here in 2008.
Frank R
The best place for dispensaries is where ever communities allow Adult Bookstores/Porn Theatres/Prostitution i.e the Shady part of town... That's why you see them in Ferndale (which borders Detroit), Detroit itself, Lansing, etc Any Macomb/Oakland County community that borders Detroit would be a consideration. I believe the zoning language is something like, "...only allowed within 200 yards of 8 Mile Road..." You wont see them in Birmingham, or Royal Oak, or Fraser, or any other community that mandates it citizens head to the shady part of town to tend to their unseemly business. As Mr. Seger said, "Here come the lawyer, the banker, and the cop, one thing for certain it aint never gonna stop.... they all got the fire down below...." Rashore
Dispensaries are a delicate subject still in MI. I'm not sure there is anywhere that is likely to be overpopulated with dispensaries soon.
+Silverblue
Bleezy, It sounds like you want to open a dispensary. I hope you'll do some research into this before venturing into it. Opening a dispensary now will likely bring trouble and your patients will be the biggest losers. Have you been reading what's been going on? Just be a cg and wait till the law can be worked out better, and hope it does. Please read some of what's been going on with dispensaries, there are many threads about that on this site. Do as you will. Good luck. No disrespect intended, I fear for your safety and that of your patients and customers. The cg/pt system is a definite part of our law. It's set up fairly well. I hope you'll consider my words. Whatever you do, you need to know what you'll be up against. Be safe. Sincerely, Sb

+Silverblue
Oh yeah right, have a business that already has a "shady" kinda label on it, next to an even shadier business. That'll really look good to some people, many won't go to an area like that, they'd associate the dispensary with those other businesses, too. I know how people think. No offense. Sb That's my point, administrators will only allow dispensaries in shady/sin areas, as that has already proven to be their point of view with all the moratoriums and out right bans of MMJ. If and when they allow it, they allow it in the areas where they are comfortable having "racy" stores like Lovers Lanes. Think of it this way, do you ever find a Lovers Lane type store in one of those Kroger strip mall complexes? Nope, but you will find it a ways down the road in an area that doesn't cater to family activities like grocery shopping. Although I must say I was stunned to see them allow that Lovers Lane on Woodward just north of 13 mile, so I take back what I said about seeing a dispensary in Royal Oak. Those Birmingham housewives didn't want to drive all the way down to Ferndale for their dildos, so they had one put in their 'shady part of town' which is Northern Royal Oak. And its close to the Beaumont medical center, so you have a high concentration of patients right there. That is exactly where we will see the Royal Oak dispensary go in. mibrains
personally i feel like dispensaries are currently just a bit into the Grey area of the law, and outside the scope of intention of the act. that being said i also feel like the bottom line is this : the only thing that matters is that the person who suffers ie. patient. gets the medicine they need and can use to help them feel better....even if it's just for a minute. don't forget the reason we are here. to help those who need a safe place and way to medicate, and to do so without interference from anyone else... so long as you are doing so peacefully. footnote *i think anyone should be able to explore whether or not MM works for them. there should be no fear of incrimination or judgment. and if they so choose to, then they should be able to freely use this wonderful life saving herb even without some doctor or "plick" in our government saying they are entitled to do so.*
Big J
I can't believe I heard someone call fashionable ferndale shady! I find it to be rather a nice place to visit. My older brother and his wife lived in ferndale up until recently I always like going there.
