Feeling nostalgic this morning- isn't that what New Year's are for? :)

This is one of my all time favorite singer-songwriters..and one of my favorite songs.
Tremendous emotion displayed in the lyrics, and the dulcimer is really amazing.

In the early 70's, when our love was very new, my then-boyfriend, now husband, had a beautiful mountain dulcimer-
he learned to play the dulcimer part...one of the many reasons he had my heart early on! ;)

And from 1976, one of her true masterpieces, IMHO.
Her voice has never sounded better.
The bass lines from Jaco Pastorius add an amazing feel to the lyrics and the story being told.

Her word use is particularly evocative on this one.

We had been married about 3 years when this came out...about the time that the glow of the being newly married wears off a bit.

Never did take that hejeira. Neither did he.
And what do you know? Here we still are 34 years later!
