Join us on the East steps of the Capitol Building in Lansing as we show our Legislators and media that we are united in our cause! As the first of two Rallies this will get petitions in the hands of hundreds of activists who will then have one month to capture as many signatures as possible before returning the completed petitions in June.

Folks, every single county prosecutor and sheriff is up for election in November. These elected officials--even more so than legislators--escalate and continue the on-the-ground war tactics on marijuana consumers, especially state sanctioned patients and caregivers.

Simply put, they're the guys who send out the soldiers to come and raid us, take our stuff, and prosecute us.

One of Campaign Director Matthew Abel's brilliant ideas for this rally (if we do say so ourselves) is to offer microphone time for any county sheriff or prosecutor candidate who will be running for office in November, so please pass the word in this. Please email Media Director Charmie Gholson at cg@repealtoday.org with tips and requests.

See you at the Capital. Who's House?

The Committee for a Safer Michigan is having a rally! We will be on

the Capitol steps on May 15th- just a few weeks away- and we are

spreading the word so our supporters can join us and send a message to

the entire state. Repealing prohibition of cannabis is a concept whose

time has come. You can help us- for free- by giving the Committee the

endorsement of the company or organization you represent.

The rally will give us a chance to collect completed petitions, to

distribute more blank petitions and to issue a challenge to our

supporters. May 15th is the first of two planned rallies: all the

petitions we distribute then will be collected one month later, at a

second rally in Lansing. To create the buzz we need for this rally to

be successful we want everyone to know who our supporters are! The

names of the companies and non-profits that give their endorsements

will be included on a page at repealtoday.org, giving them some

recognition.

The real targets of this endorsements campaign are the legislators who

are debating changes to the Medical Marihuana Act. We'll show them not

only that the Committee has broad support, but that Michigan has

benefitted from the MMA in ways they do not appreciate. When we

present them with a list of 100, 200 companies and organizations (or

maybe even more!) that did not exist before our law was passed in

2008, they cannot deny the positive economic impact the MMA has been.

Let's defeat the naysayers, convert the non-believers and show the

lawmakers that Michigan runs on Green Power!

To officially endorse the Committee and our Rally, please reply to

this email with the name of the organization/company you represent

included, along with a contact name and telephone number and the zip

code in which the business is headquartered. If we need to verify your

endorsement for any reason we'll need to contact you. We are not

accepting personal endorsements from anyone other than elected

officials at this time. Tables are available for rent during the rally

from the Committee; every rental fee is a donation to the Committee

and must be officially recorded. Just indicate your interest in table

rentals when you reply with your endorsement.

Thanks in advance for your endorsement. Contact us with any questions!

It is my understanding that this is not a protest of anything, but a way to energize the initiative effort to repeal cannabis prohibition. The only strategy is to get more help and make a big push for signatures in the next couple of months.

I like the plan to offer a forum for all of the people running for county Sheriff or Prosecutor in Michigan this year. This is a crucial election year. We can create some better over-all conditions for this community, by how successful we are in getting people out to vote in November.
