They could at least try the net before they pump the guy full of 45 bullets like in the Saginaw video. Watch that video and apply the net gun and tell me what you think would have happened. He would have lived. But then they would have to deal with him again possibly. When you want to exterminate someone you don't want any good ideas about how not to kill.
