Why Wont My Dr. Recomend Mm For My Chronic Pain

Recommended Posts

I have 2 dr's i have been seeing for over 10 yrs for my disability, neither one would fill out the mm registry form, no reason given, I had to find another dr. I gave up my back specialist and started seeing a mm friendly dr., Why is it that this is happening to alot of long time patients? could it be the free meds the large companys supply your dr's to give out to patients? have you ever noticed when a new drug comes out, your dr. wants to try it on you, and gives you some free samples before writing you a prescription?

When cymbalta came out, I was having some trouble sleeping thru the nite, due to back pain, my dr. said they wanted me to try cymbalta, that it has properties in it to ease my nerve pains in my back!!! what a crock, it is a head med, like prozac but stronger! it did me no good in fact it made my condition worse!

I truly believe that alot of dr's are not endorsing the use of mm because of pressure from the large drug company's and the ins co's they are all in each others pockets, and we are just a phaqing # to them, and the only # that means anything to most dr's it a # with a $ in front of it!

p.s I may need to be on some type of prozac at times, lol, but id much rather have control of my medication, than my medication having control over me!

P.s.s. this post is for anything you would like to say! speak your mind and ask what you want, be polite, beligerent. ignorant. or how ever you choose to be, and ask questions, if we cant get marijuana all out legal than lets get every one a patient registry card that chooses to use mmj, and is of legal age!

Doctors get zero education about using marijuana for therapy.

They are not allowed to apply it to patients.

They are allowed zero field application practice.

They have been forced to be the most blind segment of our society.

There are no surviving doctors that were around when it was legal, seventy years ago.

Doctors have had laws passed that make it against the law for anyone without a license to even talk about medicine.

They are the blind leading the blind. With degrees and licenses that announce they are the lawful medical experts on any medical topic.

They can not admit they are the blind .. after all, they are the experts.

Questions about medical marijuana are very uncomfortable for them.

All in time. Doctor's are largely a product of their training. Most doctors in practice today were in medical school 20 years ago when medical marijuana was viewed as nothing more than a fringe alternative new-age treatment. This was the environment they were trained in.

It wasn't until relatively recently that researchers began exploring and medical schools began teaching about the endocannabinoid system, the critical role it plays in our day-to-day lives and the interactions between the cannabis plant and this system within our body. As more med school students learn about this and leave school, the medical field will become increasingly open to MM and related therapies.

I know that doesn't help right now, but maybe provides some hope moving forward?

News to me! Are they really starting to teach about it?

Have any schools formed entire classes on the topic?

Maybe Mich should look at expanding the group of people that can 'recommend' MMJ. Take a look at what Washington State has just recently done.

Now, more than just MDs / DOs can recommend there.

Opens things up and eliminates the bottle neck on MMJ use.

Hope you're all having a good day.

My card is up for renewal in a couple of months.

At my next appointment with my pain mgmt physician, it will be brought up.

Stay tuned. I don't feel it is right for me - I AM TOTALLY AND PERMANENTLY DISABLED - that I have to go spend $200 just to get a damned rec from one of the MMJ friendly docs.

My wife went to see Dr. Neumann and he was simply great. He did just as thorough of an examination on her than our regular doctors. JMHO here - he is head and shoulders above the THCF Clinic. Dr. Neumann is more concerned with your overall health.

So, if my pain mgmt doc throws me out of the office and cuts me off as a patient after 8 plus years I guess I'll be back to square one. I simply don't see me having an extra $200 to renew my card.

Guess I better start playing more poker again! LOL!

I've heard from several nursing student friends across the country that they are at least aware of it. Not everyone, though. Many look at me like I'm on crack when I ask about it.

Medical Pain Relief Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM) Center / Livonia

This centers web site claims to deal with pain management and MM certification. Any one know anything about them? I know my doctor will stop seeing me as a patient as soon as he makes me take a drug test. He wants to have total control of my medical care. I have lots of issues with my spine from an auto accident. I still need someone who will see me to make sure everything is OK as far as my herniated disk, pinched nerves etc.

I'm in Wayne county. If anyone know of any pain management doctors that will See me please let me know.

There are many problems to overcome with most doctors.

1. They are told taught from the start cannabis is a recreational drug just like all the rest and is going to cause them as medical professionals many headaches.

2. Big pharma knows how to brainwash, they spend billions on it. When docs are fresh out of medical school and in over there head, guess who is there to "help" them. The rep is more than happy to suggest a drug for a patient and give some samples. The doctor is happy someone was there to "help" them and a bond is formed.

3. As the doctor matures they are still in pharmas pocket, fancy dinners, golf outing, ect.

4. Some docs are open to it but are forbidden by their practice.

5. Others are just scared of getting involved thinking it will come back to them, others are on fence figure why get involved when I can tell them to go see someone else.

Yeah, it makes me sick to see that doctors don't have a problem prescribing you drugs that will turn your guts to mush and turn you into a zombie, yet refuse to recommend mmj. WTF?

There are some who are becoming open minded though. I know of a cancer center in Livingston county who is very open to it and they want to be educated on it as well. My sister is a radiologist there and has came to me with this.

I'm trying to put a small group together to go in to speak with the doctors and rest of the cancer units.

This thread is GREAT! Preach on Everybody! When I asked my doctor about MMcanabis I had my paperwork ready to fill out. I also brought the HIPPA release form in case he said no. That way they would have had to release my files to the "pot clinic". Before going in I thought that there was probably a 90% chance that he would say yes. He is a kinda grumpy old veteran that doesn't like to chat much. Thank God I was wrong because he filled out my paper work with me and only charged me an additional $10.

FDA has one law... Can't cure anything unless it's a pill...Had to take my sister to Canada to get some special treatments. Illegal here but it was to long to late... Government and Big Business....Your are on the right track........They(DOCS) care nothing about you just the bottom line....Some engineers I know to..Try curing a disease without a pill and watch how fast you go to jail, loose practice and have all records destroyed..........AMERICA.....GREAT COUNTRY wrong government...........

Hello all. I am new to the site and I was hoping y'all could help me out. I've had chronic pain for 13 yrs. in the last few years its gotten really bad. its starting to affect my memory and my health care professional just hands me another anti-depressant. ive tried cymbalta. Made me ill. She won't even discuss MM because they don't treat chronic pain with "narcotics". I can barely walk most days and my short term memory is shot. She won't listen. It'd legal now why are the doctors so reluctant? Anybody? Thanks.

well I would say p.b would be a good speaker for you to get to go!

He from what i read is very knowledgable in the mm patient feild, he seems to be helping a lot of people with his oil also, finaly got some one who is as pissed as me, I totaly regret even asking my dr's about mm. they are so against it, so i got my records and went else where, I still see my reg dr. they do blood work on me like they always have, they write me narcotics, and I know I have been peeing dirty for thc since i started seeing dr's for my disability, and I am open with them they know i smoke weed (mm). They know i was hooked on their pain meds also, I have told them so, i have went so far as to tell them i cant afford the meds any longer. i was asked why dont your ins pay for it, i said yes but they dont pay for the extras i have to buy off of the street, Im adiccted and it is costing me to much put me on something i dont want to get high on. they presribed methadone 10 mg. 4 times daily,,real good for pain relief, but not to good to come off of abruptly like i was forced to do once,,wound up in ICU out cold for over a day!

Time to find a new dr. and or pain clinic, where abouts are you located? you wouldnt happen to be on neurontins would you? or soma's, Your 12 yrs of medical records are more than enough to take to a thc clinic, or find another dr. that is mm friendly, in fact whether you stay with your dr. or not get a complete copy of your med records from them upto date, If you dont already have them, even if they want you to pay for the copies, most dont, do it, and keep it upto date. My records are 12 yrs worth now, In oct I will get the previous yrs worth of med records, There are some dr.s that will help you. If you are down state, oakland county has a few thcf clinics, Im sure some one here knows a Phone number to one! I got lucky and found a mm friendly dr a few counties away from me, worth the trip though and we maintain a dr patient realtionship now, i go to him 4 times a yr as my specialist, and seee my family dr 4 times a yr for blood work, physical and other needs for my disability, my fam dr. knows nothing of my specialist, my specialist knows everything about my fam dr. I have always had 2 dr's since my disability started a family dr. and a back specialist! they always worked to gother in medicating me, Now my mm specialist knows i get my meds from my fam dr. and I dont get any from him, and my fam dr always knew i smoked pot, I told her and they do blood work on me 3 times a yr, she cant recomend mm for me because she is a physicians asst, not an md. I asked her about it she dont agree or disagree if its good, but she has a dr. in her office that writes my narcotic pain killers, so they can give me an mm app, just dont for some reason Hmmmmmmm! wonder $$$$$$$$$$$ who is paying who

remember the dr works for you, you dont work for them. so find one that fits your needs. It may take a whole lot of interviews before you find the one you want, Just like hiring any one to do a job!
