Markman and Zahra are both Repubs. Both voted in favor of us on King/Kolanek, but Markman voted against us on Feezel.

I wish I had information on the other candidates.

Does anyone know the political affiliations of the candidates?

I'm pretty sure of these:

Rep=O'Brien;

Dem=Kelley, Johnson, and McCormack

Lib=Roddis, Morgan

USTax=Barry

NLP=Dern

COA

Gleicher friend?

Krause foe

O'Connell foe

Shapiro friend

(Edit: moved Morgan to Libertarian, and Dern to NLP)

That all looks right except for Morgan and maybe Roddis. I think Morgan is a Libertarian cadidate. Not sure but I think so. Maybe someone else can confirm this. As for Roddis, I didn't know he was running at all. Didn't he run 4 years ago and lose? Again, I don't know. As for Barry, I don't know anything about him/her. You nailed the dem/rep candidates though. As most probably know this is a non-partisan ballot. So don't think you are going to go into the voting booth and make the decision there because they won't have party labels.

doug dern is part of the natural law party

http://www.natural-l...s/Michigan.html

natural law has this stance on drugs:

Therefore, we will cut our burgeoning prison population in half by decriminalizing nonviolent drug offenses, directing such offenders to drug education, prevention, and rehabilitation programs.

http://www.natural-l...ml#legalization

more info about nlp and even mentions doug in the wiki article

Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the appointments of Elizabeth L. Gleicher and Jane M. Beckering to the Michigan Court of Appeals

pretty sure her husband was helping aclu a few years ago:

"ACLU of Michigan General Counsel Mark Granzotto"

i cant find any contact info for elizabeth. if someone has some spare time , maybe they can call up mark and ask him to pass on the question of medical marijuana to his wife for you.

mindy barry is tax party

bio - http://www.ustpm.org/contact.html?sobi2Task=sobi2Details&catid=150&sobi2Id=74

site - http://www.mindybarryformichigansupremecourt.com/

Grosse Pointe Park attorney Mindy Barry has filed to run for the high court as a Taxpayer Party candidate, but she's a former Republican House staffer who clerked for Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Young Jr., a GOP nominee.

The Constitution Party will uphold the right of states and localities to restrict access to drugs and to enforce such restrictions.

the taxpayer party position on drugs is 'more war on drugs'

i got a reply back from shelia johnson:

my response to your question is that as a judge, I do not write laws and it is inappropriate for me to have a specific opinion and allow that opinion to affect how I would decide an issue involving the law. My job is to uphold the law as it is written by the legislature. With the Michigan medical marijuana law, I regularly up hold the provision of that statute as implemrnted by the legislature. Thank you for your inquiry.

the legislature didnt implement the fuggin thing!

and reply back from kelley's people

Thank you for your interest in Judge Connie Marie Kelley and her campaign for the Michigan Supreme Court. Judge Kelley is not in a position to respond to the specific question you have asked, as it is possible this item may appear before her as a justice on the Michigan Supreme Court.

I had posted this in another thread, but I believe that it belongs here.

You have caused me a little sleep, but I got it done. I sent this email to all three judges. Thanks for the inspiration. I am going to send the same email to the republican candidates tomorrow.

Dear Judge ________,

My first question is how does one view a peoples initiative in Michigan and secondly, how will you apply the law when a case involves a peoples initiative?

Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Your answers will enable me to make an informed decision on November 6, 2012.

Respectfully,

I will post if and when I get a response. I will send this email to the remainder of the MSC Candidates tomorrow.

I hope that these questions are generic enough for them to answer. Btw, your handle is hurting my face, would you care to share with us why you chose that name? My imagination is running wild!

  • 2 weeks later...

except shelia johnson does not believe in the mmma.

so vote for someone else there.

The alternative not only doesn't believe in MMMA, but they are more willing to do something about it. You are looking at it in a one dimensional view. And just because we got a 7-0 vote, right before the election, don't be fooled again. That cherry isn't going to take you very far down the road we need to travel.
