i would never let my child go back to a facility that allowed them to be treated/scared like that and put into "lock-down"

Privatization of government services is a Republican idea. John Engler championed the cause here in Michigan when he was governor. Ostensibly the reason was to save money, but numerous studies have shown that it doesn't work. The real reason the Repubs want to do this is to break public employee unions. Jailing people for profit seems to be an obviously bad idea, yet the Republicans are still gung-ho for privatization. Who in their right mind would think that government should be run by the private sector? The whole idea behind government is to keep the private sector within bounds that are established by the public. Civil servants/public employees answer to their employer - the citizens. Private sector workers answer to the numbers on a profit/loss statement.
