What is the MMMA doing to fight off the new house bills on caregiver limits?

Politicians play the numbers. So the equation here would be how many people would vote in favor of dispensaries as opposed to how many would vote in favor of caregivers. I think when you simplify it like that you see the problem for caregivers. Why would a politician stick up for caregivers over dispensaries when many more people use the dispensaries than the caregiver system?

The Michigan Cannabis Manufacturers Association, the trade group leading the charge on proposed changes, is led by Steve Linder, a lobbyist and longtime GOP operative with a history of advocating for more stringent cannabis regulations. Among its board of directors are executives with High Life Farms, Skymint, LivWell and Common Citizen, which Linder has described as the “General Motors, Fords and Chryslers” of the weed business.

A public relations firm hired by the MCMA has refused to specifically identify its members.

Perhaps it would be best to go to the source and let these dispensaries know that we will be boycotting their businesses until they stop their assault on our medical rights. If anyone has info on any other members of this group make it public so they can't hide behind a group name.

If you want to contact the MCMA directly they have a contact form on their website.  https://www.michigancma.com/contact/

If you would like to contact individual members here is their info.

Livwell - https://livwell.com/contact/

Common Citizen - https://www.commoncitizen.com/contact-us/

Fluresh - https://fluresh.com/contact/

Pleasantrees - https://www.enjoypleasantrees.com/contact-us/

Green Peak Innovations (parent company of Skymint) - https://www.prnewswire.com/contact-us/#general

Let them know you will no longer make any purchase from them or from any establishment that sells their products until they stop their predatory business practices. If you have time on your hands why not drop by one of these stores and have their budtenders show you every single product they sell along with detailed explanations of each then when they are all through let them know that you'd like to make a purchase but wouldn't feel right about it because of the harm they are attempting to do to patients.

This is headed by all the state run suppliers of all the dispensaries. So every legal dispensary is involved because they have to use these suppliers. Ironically, they have bud tenders that are caregivers. I imagine they bring in some caregiver grown weed under the table. So the dispensaries are probably sitting on the fence on this one.

I am not optimistic on our winning on this issue.

One of my patients is for some ungodly reason a Republican and he was up at Mackinaw for the annual Republican pow wow weekend before last.  He tells me that he is optimistic about the bills not passing.   In the same breathe he tells me that when he discussed the issue with State reps and senators that they all asked him for 4-5 figure donations.   I do not see our community greasing them with that level of $, but I have no doubt that the MCMA could do that in a heartbeat.

Seems the bills are moving very fast, they already have a hearing on them scheduled for tomorrow, 10/5 in Lansing.
