OK. Here's the deal on Asthma;

The third(3) question on the petition presents a problem. It asks you to make the case of why it isn't already covered. I can't honestly make that case because I believe it is already covered. I have seen doctors that say the muscle spasms are covered and then Dr. Bob said they were not. I believe they are. So if you believe they are not then you are the one to present the petition. I can't honestly work on this when I would have to start the BS story at question 3, making the case of why it wasn't already covered.

I sit on the panel as an unpaid volunteer, as do all the panel members. If you feel spondyloarthropathy is a condition that is worthy of consideration, it is up to Y-O-U to obtain and file the papers.

Take a bit of responsibility.

I’ve just noticed that there was a brief discussion about “muscle spams” on another, recent thread. Had I seen it, I would not have been as vocal in this one. It does appear that I stepped into something. I will end my discussion here by referring to another thread http://michiganmedicalmarijuana.org/topic/39576-what-conditions-are-like-epilepsy-or-multiple-sclerosis/page__fromsearch__1.

On another note Hayduke, in regards to your potion on the panel to decide new diseases and conditions; I suggest that LARA look on its site under the section titled “Pain & Symptom Management“ http://michigan.gov/lara/0,4601,7-154-35299_28150_45947---,00.html http://michigan.gov/lara/0,4601,7-154-35299_28150_45947_45948_51814---,00.html . The site presents a list of diseases and conditions that have been deemed as extremely painful in nature. I think that these items should be placed into the MMMA.

anything causing pain is already covered under 'severe and chronic pain' condition.

it might be a waste of time to include other painful conditions. unless i am misunderstanding you.

We should try not to make this harder on ourselves than it already is. Parkinson's and PTSD are new conditions since they both have symptoms that are not on the list, but relieved by cannabis. In the case of Parkinson's tremors and rigidity, in the case of PTSD sleep deprivation and anxiety. Probably other symptoms as well for both.

Yes. The application is well thought out to make sure the panel's time isn't being wasted. Most everything muscle spasm and pain related is already covered completely by the wording already in place. It's going to be some really obscure conditions that are not already covered.

Of course we also need to educate doctors that asthma is already covered and why.

Tried that with a cannabis specialist and it seemed he would rather walk on fire than be convinced. Others just seem to easily see it. Some doctors are very hard to convince if they didn't think it up themselves.

I would hope the reality of the new conditions panel and knowing the way the petitions work is enough.

If I can't bring a doctor on board with muscle spasms and asthma by showing these two things then I'm at a loss;

1. In the law; severe and persistent muscle spasms, including but not limited to those characteristic of multiple sclerosis

2. Medical facts;

I presume that you have seen Granny Stormcrows list?

Very useful for looking for documentation about conditions.

It is available on line, as a Word doc and I believe a pdf file.

Here is one location where it exists on line. https://www.icmag.com/viewarticle.php?articleid=1422

That is an older version. The current version is over 500 pages long, when printed out. Printing it out is nearly useless. It is a live document that is made up, almost entirely, of links.

That's 500 pages of links.

Why doesn't asthma already quality? It is not a named condition.

If they only allow additions to the condition section, we can address it that way also.

MS doesn't qualify until the condition produces spasms. Only after the disease progresses to the point of causing those, is the condition covered.

If cannabis can prevent the progression of the MS (therapeutic use) then, currently, that medical application is forbidden.

Read the application questions. 3 asks why it doesn't fall under another already approved condition. Asthma obviously does in my opinion. Doctors think so too. It's very straight forward. I'm not going to make a case that I don't believe in(question 3).
