Medical marjuana users are accusing the federal government of violating their privacy and jeopardizing their safety after Health Canada sent out letters in envelopes that outed them as medical marijuana users.

Health Canada sent the letters to approximately 40,000 people across the country to inform them of changes to the Marijuana Medical Access Program beginning April 1.

Debbie Stultz-Giffin, who has a licence to grow marijuana in Nova Scotia, said any previous correspondence about the program came in plain brown envelopes and was sent by registered mail.

These letters were sent to approximately 40,000 medical marijuana users across Canada. (CBC)

The most recent letter, she said, was delivered in an envelope that referred explicitly to the Medical Marijuana Access Program and included her name and address on the envelope.

These are Patients, not users

So the Mail person sees who got the letter  and the people who got the porn, and the people who get the viagra and  even the people who get the products to fake the urine tests.

After a day/week/month those poor mail persons are so stressed  they gotta  be medicating or they would go postal.

Too late.  The return registration I sent in already had Michigan medical marijuana program on it.  I didn't think to just put lara and when I turned it in at the local po it had my return address on it.  OpSec already compromised here.

Just too darn much to still worry about.

I agree with beourbud.

I received a letter in the past from LARA with Michigan Medical Marijuana Program on it in the return also, and now, all of the foxy post ladies know what I do. They are so much more friendly now, and hang out in the drive when they deliver grow lights and stuff, you know, the ones the store sends out in original packages....dangit.

no worries, task force, mayor, city hall, they love what we do in this town, and have defended it in public. They only bust the people not following the Act so far since 2008.

There largest score for them was not the dispensary they closed, but all the people they found in the files selling to them !

I don't know what town you live in gm and it is a good thing that 'they' love what you do in your town

(which is growing marijuana I am assuming).

What raises my hackles is each time you say; that the only people getting busted are those who are

not following our law.

STOP IT

That is not true in all cases across the State of MI.

Maybe you are lucky enough to live in an area to which this may be true, and that is great.

PLEASE stop telling people that the only persons that get dragged through court are those breaking our law.

I did say  "they, in our town", with specific reference. I think it a worthy cause to report medical marijuana friendly places, positive police experiences, and rewards of being compliant. Some people relocate just for that purpose.

This is my experience reported and I make that known with each statement, as above. Just like my opinions, I am encouraged to post my experiences here. I will not stop that. I am sorry if you expect my experience/opinions to be a match to yours, when they are not. I don't mean to cause offense to you, or anyone.

If you have experiences of mmmj compliant  patients who were not breaking laws that have been arrested, feel free to start a thread and post them. I for one would be interested in reading their court cases as would many here. I am not the only one with this same general observation you know, and these innocent cases should be publicized more often to reflect your experiences as well.
