E-Mail Reply From Virg Bernero

I should have posted this message a while back but here it is. We sent a message asking Virg Bernero his take on medical marijuana.

Here is an exact copy of the message:

Virg strongly supports the will of the people. He was an advocate for the

medical marijuana ballot initiative and as governor, Virg will uphold the

will of the people. If the legislature tried to override the will of the

people by passing a bill to stop it, Virg would veto the legislation.

Virg is also the only ally of the MMMA running for governor.

We hope Virg can earn your support and your vote on August 3rd.

We need some leadership up in here...do this...dont do that

Stay away from those medical marijuana people....you heard me

Yep, and we will pass industrial hemp legislation :goodjob:

And.....

And I'd like to see the new governor with thier own medical 'marihuana' card

Now that's the FUTURE! :D

problem with politicians, is i don't believe any of the lies that come out of their mouths, as they're used to paying lip service to whatever cause they think is going to get them votes.

i want a politician to say, "i support medical marijuana," and not just "whisper it so no one else can hear"

Did Virg also mention that he wants to tax and regulate MJ? How about his statement that he is a career politician and proud of it? Don't we learn ANYTHING from the past? Party means nothing anymore. WE voted the law in,they didn't.

IMHO ALL politicians have a bad odor ... but I suspect on the MMJ question our old buddy Virg probably has less of a stink about him when it at least comes to MMJ than Mr. Snyder.

And he seems a little more 'worldly' than our man, Snyder.

But I don't kid myself, when it comes to morals... I'd rather trust a sociopath than a politician.

Sometimes we have to take what we can get when we can get it.

And no matter WHAT the pols tell us it is NOT going to make a gnat's a** worth of difference on the 'economy' WHO is the governor.

So I for one am not going to be swayed by the smoke the pols try to blow up my rectum about the great things they're going to do for the State of Michigan.

BUT the guy we put into office for gov COULD make it easy OR difficult for the MMJ movement.

So think carefully before you mark that ballot.

I've already sent in my absentee ballot.. and guess which of these bone heads I voted for.

So for those who are skeptical what is the alternative? Virg may not be a loud supporter but Snyder is clearly not for MMJ.

Virg gets my vote.

Exactly! Not like we have any choices here. Snyder already stated he is down on Med Mj.

2 choices; one who says he is on our side and the other isn't.

Snyder is definitely NOT on our side!

Who ya gonna vote for folks????

I feel that it is choosing who we perceive to be the lesser of two evils.

I know Virg to be pro-choice and also for gay rights. This may translate

to his supporting persons to choose what they want to do with

their own bodies (?), MM or not.

He's got my vote.

Snyder said he will support the MMJ law. Then he said he WOULD NOT SUPPORT A TAX ON IT. Do you NOT get it? Or maybe you would like to pay even more taxes than we already do in Michigan.

Just for general information.... 'medications' are NOT supposed to be TAXED in Michigan.

If MMJ is a 'medication', and by at least State law it now appears to be a med... ANY promise NOT to tax it might just be an empty 'politicians' promise, no matter WHICH pol is making the promise.

And in order to tax MMJ 'IF' it really is a 'med' would, IMHO, lead to more court battles than a person would even want to begin to imagine.

If MMJ is taxed wouldn't State law have to be changed so that ALL meds were taxed?

Sounds like it might be more of the 'circus monkey blowing smoke up the elephant's butt to get the peanut'.

Oh well. Ever onward.

Where has Synder said he is not in support of the MMMA?

It is true that he has said nothing. For the matter of fact he seems rather non committal on anything. However his campaign says he is "against legalization of marijuana." To me that is an important statement. It means he is not open minded enough to see the possibilities of positive cash flow into the state and the taxes that will generate. It means he is still of the mind set that cannabis is the devil weed.

As for the Democrats taxing it I am OK with that. With taxation comes income the state will not want to let go. It will put them on our side rather than on the feds side. On the other hand remember it was Republicans who introduced the house bill that would make only 10 MMJ growing facilities across the state effectively taking the power to produce our medicine away from us and put it in the hands of the large corporate farms and pharmaceutical industry. With Viagra at $20 a pill what do you think a gram of cannabis will go for if sold by Pfizer?

Show me when and where Snyder said he would support the med mj law. We sent him messages many times asking his position on this and never once did he say he was in support of the med mj law, but Virg did.

Does anybody have an email reply from Snyder stating he was in favor of med mj?

Does anybody have any proof that Snyder is in favor of med mj?

Don't they tax and regulate beer and wine?

Yeah, that's what I want to see and ASA F"n P

The taxation and regulation is one area where I probably differ with most folks in our community. I don't like the idea of a tax or regulations being put in place on medical marijuana, remember it was a simple tax that was used to start the prohibition on cannabis.

Also, comparing medical marijuana to "beer and wine" perpetuates the image that people are medicating for recreational purposes, and takes away from the medicinal argument. Just something to keep in mind.

Taxing a medicinal herb just to placate our rulers and regulators will only lead to higher prices for poor, sick human beings. I do not agree with the premise that we must formulate a taxing policy against ourselves and sick and poor people.
