Mother Of U Of M Student Warns Of 'marijuana Wax' Video

A metro mother who has a son attending the University of Minnesota says there's a new drug making its way into Minnesota, and she wants to make sure other parents know about it -- including how potent it is.

Anyone who hasn't heard of or seen "marijuana wax" is not alone. In an unscientific survey, Fox 9 News only found about 1 in 20 students at the U had even heard about it, but it often looks and feels just like lip balm. One student admitted he knows people who have tried it, but said he's never seen it on campus.

"It's easier to use, and I know it's easier to stay hidden," the student explained. "It doesn't have a potent smell too much, and it's super condensed so it's easier to hide."

Aside from being easier to transport, it's also much more potent. Dr. Charlie Reznikoff is an addiction medicine specialist at HCMC, and he also sits on the state's medical marijuana task force. Since marijuana wax is readily available in other states and can travel easily, he's not surprised to hear it's in Minnesota now.

"I expect it to be here," he said.

Although he's spoken with a number of emergency room doctors across the Twin Cities, no one has yet reported seeing a patient who has used marijuana wax -- but he says the discussion is timely since the drug packs a pretty hefty high.

"Marijuana a person might smoke might have 10 to 15 percent THC concentration," he explained. "This could have 99 percent."

With legal medical marijuana debuting in Minnesota next year, Reznikoff said he expects marijuana wax will be used and could fall into the wrong hands. In fact, even in adults, he says it's not for everyone.

"In adults, there have been a number of psychiatric emergencies," he explained. "Panic, paranoia and the final danger is driving. One should never drive after ingesting this stuff."

Although university officials told Fox 9 News they have never heard of marijuana wax or any problems associated, Reznikoff said he has a message to deliver to anyone who is thinking about using the wax in the future:

"It's highly potent stuff, so proceed with caution," he said. "Very small amounts -- smaller than you think -- get you very intoxicated and could potentially lead to an emergency room visit."

driving after weed is ok, but our law should outlaw driving after this stuff is ingested--it totally disoriented me--ie, how's that translate into a blow-breath test?   the experince of  wax reminded me of psolycicycibin mushrooms but more of salvia divinoris.  not stuff to hone your fine motor skills clear thots.

I disagree with you pic, driving after weed is not ok, and our laws reflect that. Wax is not new, and is simply the concentrated active ingredients(oil) in cannabis buds, and was in use during biblical times. It will test exactly as thc does.

Character john the Baptist spread the oil on the heads of others so they would see and feel a spirit, and when they tripped too far, he quickly washed off the smear. Even they knew when to enough was enough ! Like the article says, its not for everyone, just the anointed ones maybe? :yahoo-wave:

What the hell is wax? Is it just honey oil renamed?

Problem with any of that stuff ya get 'round a campus is you don't know what's in it. May not be just marijuana. Could be cut with other shite like shrooms or LSD. You don't wanna drive or do anything else dangerous if you're usin' street drugs. Stick to meddie mary-do-ya-wanna.

I agree. If you are going to experiment with marijuana, stick with the leafy bud material. It is way easier to control the dose. Edibles, oils and waxes are for the experienced and the brave. Getting too high is not a pleasurable experience for the vast majority of people.

Bonus for the prohibitionists though:  people who use the high powered stuff for their first experience with marijuana may never want to dabble in the stuff again.

I realy have never seen wax!  I know it is around but I realy have no interest in it, some body explain what is the dif between the bho I have made and wax, and what extra steps need be taken or taken away to make it wax?

I totaly got to high to qualify on my own bho mixed in p.b, I also knew I was too high to drive, or talk to important people on the phone, or realy  anything but go on the pc and make an arse out of myself, I used to much, it isnt the first time and wont be the last! :lolu:

I put my oil on a cig, I put a drop on a bowl of mm, I have a vape I only use for oil, I can tell you while I was feeling to high to qualify I was also totaly pain free for the 1st since the last time I done that lol!

If any one knows the true making of wax (meaning if you made it or you are g.m) tell me more about it, Im very interested, I have alot of time on my hands in the winter and Im game for making new things, as long as it doesnt go against my better judgment bawahahahahaha!

Peace

ready Phaquer ?

ya take your finished bho and warm it once again, whip it good , a dremmel works well. place in a handy vacuum chamber for the effect. Oil, wax, and soap are very close chemically with different physical forms. I've dropped a bit of water into the mix for a faster whip. The vacuum will swiss cheese the mix and if stopped soon enough will stay this way. If you buy "that video" for $250 you'll find two things you never knew in there, and got for free here! the rest you knew when you were 25.

For the win a controlled heated dry/under vacuum will make super fine wax=bho by any other name. no more potent than bho. shatter is a bit different and clarified. and crystal is a couple steps from there,....so I've heard.......  I have some spare parts if needed, if anyone wants to explore the refrigeration business..... A brand new  vacuum pump and a plastic(15 inch?) vacuum chamber I'd trade or sell.

hang on to that shtuff I may be interested, than maybe I can follow your azz home and see this grow and cultures shtuff lmao!

so yea I totaly under stand, I have gotten that swiss cheese effect w/o the vacum, so is this for only eating or what, Im thinking it isnt worth doing if it is only going to be the same potency as my oil now, and Ive been working on ways to make it easier to eat or smoke and handle!

Peace

wax is easier to handle/dryer, is for smoking, eating, rubbing, smelling, licking, vaporizing...just like hash or bho. I knew you were awake stalking this morning!

good day friend.

you could follow me home, but nobody has ever seen my grow, or culture lab. I'd have to dip you in bleach you scruffy phaquer, god knows where your parts have been!!!!  ehetehehlol

Wax is BHO with air whipped into it...I see no reason to do this at all...Everyone knows that the more you expose a substance to air the faster it degrades...If you add water when your whipping it all that is going to do is make it crackle when you vape it..HJ

the law allows no smoking and driving.

but i drive slower, more patiently, with marijuana.  Back before drug tests were in place and a trucker could easily get away with smoking weed, truckers told me the same thing, and i called it wishful thinking (i wasn't on the road myself yet) partly cause the drinkers told me the same thing!! and i knew the national traffic safety studies that showed the drinkers were deluded.  i put weeders into the same category of delusionals.

WRONG!

experienced smokers who know their tolerance drive more slowly, more patiently and more mildly than they do otherwise.

i never had a road rage incident reported on a weeder.  i had drunk drivers taken to jail for their road rages. road rage.

the "wax" refers to the trichome head structure, not to the contents, necessarily. The trichome heads have no active ingredients, and concentrating them for use later would be futile. I had a jug of that wax, and some separated  hydrosols forever. The wax itself has a faint scent, milky hit, and nothing but oxygen deprivation, residual oils. Most leave the wax in the oil with no fuss. Canned butane will extract more waxes than Nbutane. The commercially available btane has several other gases in it(solvents) that are a polarity match to other constituents in the flowers.

Removing the waxy plant material from initial bho decreases the weight substantially, and changes names of the concentrate from a concrete to an absolute, or shatter, thus further concentrating the active ingredients by weight, making use even more potent, by weight. I agree to leave it alone for best results, the minute you have removed 100% of the chosen solvent. pack it away in the dark for best results, so I hear

"officer, I really am experienced and use thc all the time. I am driving safe, I assure you, why did you pull me over again, oh yeah, burned out lights and the feather on the mirror, obstructing my view"

Alcohol used to be legal to drive with, until people started dying in drunk driving accidents. I'd just assume that wont happen because we're smarter than driving right after we use medicines.

Thorazine, morphine sulphate, oxycontin, Demerol, all have the similar "don't use this until you know how high you actually are" a silly warning with kids on the street. I wonder about the zero tolerance with booze but morphine sulphate users can be juiced up while driving, at least if they know how juiced up they are. unbelievable, good catch zap

You've misunderstood. I am in no way comparing the drugs at all, only their warnings, and the erroneous types they print on the labels. To think there is an acceptable amount of morphine sulphate to drive safely on, and to believe that allowing users to decide for themselves that safe amount is dangerous thinking. Specifically that warning is given on morphine sulphate, just like marinol. Leading me to believe that the warning like this are somehow politically motivated, not by a health watch organization. Maybe it is the bare minimum bid the manufacturer is forced to print?

The two drugs are very different, with vastly differing effects, but while the warning on both oxycontin and marinol are the same concerning driving, I cannot subscribe to either, can you?

I'm only saying, after reading the warning label from marinol, that since morphine is very different than cannabis, perhaps the driving warning labels might be different. since they are not, I am questioning both out of fairness. I certainly have driven the day I've medicated, and I also have said "nah, you drive hun, I just medicated" so I know what you are saying.

I am also saying allowing a person who may be addicted to a substance to decide how much of that substance he should be allowed to drive while under the influence is dangerous thinking. I've worked with hundreds of morphine addicts who all believed they were sober enough to drive, if they still had a car. Some used a lot, some not so much and I can tell you that many of them presented a danger on the road within an hour of medicating. Have you seen what thorazine, ms contin does to a person zap? or Demerol, barbiturates? they make nutty drivers by anyone's standards, except the fda apparently, and yours :yahoo-wave:
